Re: I seriously hate A03

I'm kind of puzzled by the huge amount of crossovers on AO3. On every other fanfiction site it seems like x-overs are really rare and nobody reads them, but when you go to AO3, it sometimes seems impossible to find any fic that stays within one fandom. WTF?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
...I realize 1985 wasn't particularly enlightened by modern standards, but I don't know if I'd call it "super-homophobic". 1955, maybe, but did those two even interact in the 1955 part?

Until I read a fandom overview, I thought it was about the trolls. I didn't realize there were any humans involved.

Like most things, it's a mix of good and bad things. Sometimes people can be awful in their treatment of other fans (not to mention other characters) but there are times when people can be awesome, as well. And Leslie Knope won last year so it can't be all bad :)

They told me I talk too much and don't know when to stop.

Since then, I just can't bring myself to speak.

It's okay, though. Nobody's noticed.

Based on this completely generic bullshit, I think that what is really happening is you share some aspect society views on sex, but hate that part of yourself because it's been drilled into your head that this part is wrong. Because your non conformity is still based on another group telling you what to think.

You were probably always going to feel that way. Don't scapegoat everybody else, accept that part of yourself and, as long as said part can be something all parties of legal age consent to, embrace it. Ya simpering wimp.

I don't know how to explain it without sounding stupid... But for me, it just boils down to an overall "pregnancy" kink, regardless if the "mother" is male or female. For me, pregnancy is very beautiful, and can also be very kinky, because of the obvious swell of new life and fertility and parenthood...

And the idea that a man could be so full of life, carry his child (and the child of his lover) inside of him and protect it, despite the laws of nature telling him that he shouldn't be able to do so... It's very beautiful. Throw in a scene where he and his lover are fondly, disbelievingly stroking his swollen belly and I'm done. I'm just DONE. It's too hot.

ARE YOU ME??? I fucking LOVE trying to figure out WTF people are talking about in fandoms whose canon I'm not familiar with. It is one of my most entertaining methods of procrastination, because I never get sick of it. :D

Yeah, you start to miss the system on FF.net where you can only search by two characters at a time.

Yeahhhhhhh!

Proposal. All of us post a picture (screencap or art, your choice) from whatever the first mario game you played was.

Yep, I'm old school. PLAYED THIS IN AN ARCADE.

I still hate that episode, but the first movie sort of implies he didn't die alone. (Sort of a plothole, but whatever)

On the subject of Futurama, though, god do I hate the second movie. Fry was so OOC in it, it frustrated me .

Or they might just be glad you stopped and aren't mentioning it in order to not make you uncomfortable.

But... there's nothing left of you that's you, not really. It's some other thing riding around in the twisted corpse that is my body. Fuck that. If I'm not using it anymore, it can go burn.

Though it kinda works from a Nihilist bent. "If I'm dead, the rest of you can fuck off... GO FOR IT TWISTED ABOMINATION, MAKE ME THE LAST THING SOMEBODY SEES"

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
They're extremely different scenes, aren't they. When Seymour dies, you just want to crawl up into a ball and cry because something so sad has happened in the world. When Bleeding Gums comes back, you feel the joy of knowing someone you've loved is never really gone.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
They're really pushing ol' Cumberbly hard with this one.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
But you could plausibly do that without pretending that you don't need a uterus to safely carry a fetus o_O

The first and last kid-fic I wrote involved pseudo-sciency magic that implanted the DNA of one of the guys' sperm into a "blank" egg, paired with the other guys' sperm, and implanted the resulting zygote into a surrogate.

I mean, if you're already writing a story that's handwaving biological probability and it's not done for body horror or kink, then why not go for something that may actually be possible in the future? Cis males cannot and will never be able to get pregnant and carry a child, but my solution above? May actually be possible someday. (And then again, maybe not, but at least the theory's got more ground to stand on than spontaneously knocking a cis male up.)

I can't call myself an expert, but Americans I've encountered told me that in the US it was a bad time for homosexuals. I guess it also depends on the state/the social position of a person.

And yes, they did?? Quite a lot? In fact, some people only ship 1955!Doc with Marty, not bringing the 1985!version into the equation.

Nah, there's a lot of other people who think like you. You can find those groups in the fandom, I promise you.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I don't think it's weird. People get epiphanies from all sorts of things.

OT: Haven't watched season 7, but...what is he so grouchy about?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
His book "Loves Destroyer" (Well the title is similar to that anyhow..) is also great, years since I've read it but I never forgot it, all about the myth of romantic love.
mfirefly10: (SG1 - Sam and Vala are awesome)

[personal profile] mfirefly10 2013-03-10 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know that I WANT to see more of it but I'm not against it, if that makes sense? I find the concept interesting enough and if it's done by a writer I like, I'd definitely check it out.

I think I've read one fem-preg fic and I believe it was Sam/Keller from Stargate Atlantis but I won't swear to that. It happened via some sort of alien tech, I remember that much and there was an interesting exploration of their relationship, as well as a mention of Sam being a mother to Cassie.

Edit: The fic I'm thinking of is Sam/Keller and it's linked in the comment above mine. Thanks, commenter :)

Thing is, though, everything that makes you, well, you, would be already dead. Necromorphs are simply converted flesh made out of existing corpses.
