My, someone is feeling butthurt about my secret from last week.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
"That was fanon's point" ¿¿¿¿¿?????? You honestly think Disney intended that to be ambiguously un-platonic?

"the point was that their love was powerful enough to set the all damage right" How is this not the point of every other romantic Disney movie? Beast's love for Belle changes him and saves him and his castle from the curse. Phillip's romantic kiss saves Aurora and the kingdom from a curse. Flynn selflessly sacrifices himself to give Rapunzel her freedom. Naveen and Tiana get married out of love to live their life as frogs and that coincidentially lifts the curse. I THINK Disney is pretty aware that "love is powerful to set all the wrongs right"---this time it IS specifically about family love, though, no fanon about it.

Honestly the pairing squicks the hell out of me, but I was willing to live and let ship. Now I think ppl who ship this are a bunch of idiots.

I've read a close to equal amount, but the stuff that's more in character usually has Dean on the bottom.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my gods, YES. YES YES YES.

I get unbelievably upset about this very phenomenon. It's made worse by the fact that most of the people who freak out in this way have zero idea of what it takes to write a book and prepare it for publishing. They cannot and do not try to understand that the turnaround time for a fast writer is one to two years (with two being more than the norm than one), because writing a novel isn't actually easy and the editing process is a gods-damned bitch.

I submitted a secret about this back when the release date for the final Wheel of Time book was announced and every one was freaking out and saying that they wouldn't buy it and they'd boycott Tor thenceforth and that they'd never buy a Brandon Sanderson book again because how DARE he write some of this own books while working on WoT. I remember some guy was like, "my six-year-old son could put out a book faster than you people," and I was like, "a) NO HE FUCKING COULDN'T and b) if you're old enough to have a child, then you're old enough to not throw a fucking tantrum because you have to wait a little while to get something that you want."

Gaaaaah!

oh my god lol wtf. oh well, seen this happen, and not surprised. I'm glad there are some sane johnlockers out there!

I just want to say that Fixer Upper is now one of my fave Disney songs. It's adorable and catchy and I think it has a lovely message. Idgaf that it dismisses Elsa's engagement. All's fair in love and war. No regrets!!!1!

There's an argument about how the women being sexualized are a male fantasy and the men being sexualized are more of a male power fantasy than an analogous female fantasy.

Personally I'd like to move away from objectification of anyone but it can be hard to define where that ends and appreciating someone as a sexual being begins.

I'm not too concerned about treating animated people as objects though.

I'm not sure they are saying they hate all female characters, but rather that this genre has a tendency to create far more one/two dimensional females that lack substance, which this person immediately hates in a character, and thus, the female being written as one.

I think with a bit of adjustment, it could be done in a non-anticlimactic way. Like Boromir's death, where we see his fight onscreen and everything.

Relax, I'm sure there's plenty of sexualization for everyone!

When I showed the (as it turned out sadly lacking) trailer in stream, I called it "Fanservicing the anime."

I wasn't wrong.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's pretty even in D/C fandom, tbh. People will say there's more of one than the other, but really it's got a good mix of both. Plus it goes in waves - there'll be more bottom!Dean for half a season, then more bottom!Cas in the other half. I think it largely depends on which of them was a jerkass to the other roughly 3-6 months back in canon. Fandom will make the jerkass top more often, it just takes it a while to catch up to canon.

It has some of that. Not nearly as much honestly, but you get a bit.

Though please don't tell lies. Everyone knows that /D/ is only for dickgirls, and they've never posted anything else.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
And then some fandoms it goes in stages. Back in season 1 and 2 of Teen Wolf you'd have been hard pressed to find bottom!Derek. Now he's around alot

Dean is the one who cries, Sam is the one who snorts. Hth

Really? I have read tons of Destiel and it seems pretty even, with Dean being a little ahead.

I totally missed it.

Anyway I have two friends called Sven and Kristof so that sort of made that whole thing weird for me in the first place.

Someday I would love to write a story about him meeting a real fairy. His interest in them amuses me too.

Parity will never be obtained

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2014-02-12 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
That requires people that want to be angry about this somehow being appeased at last.

I figure the best we can hope for is rule of funny/rule of hot forgiving anything in modern day as long as everybody is a valid target.

It's a pretty unconvincing argument.

Especially in regards to anime.

I usually end up losing touch with people because I get sick of being the one to always make the first contact. If I suggest a date to hang out and they never respond, then that's it. I will try to schedule things with you several times but if you don't want to hang out with me or make solid plans, that's fine.

I'm sort of in the middle of not speaking to who was once my best friend. He and I were incredibly close but then he got a girlfriend and he suddenly no longer called me and I just gave up on trying to call him. He'll come over my house occasionally to hang out with my sister but in the last year we've spoken maybe 4 times. It's taken a lot to get to this point and I've made my peace with it.

wait, what's this about seven seasons?
