It's a fucking anime, what do you expect? Female characters in anime/manga are more often than not either overplayed or steriotypical. This is why I RARELY like them.

Not to mention (I haven't seen the series BUT) why can't a character be a housewife AND a good character? Or 'striotypical' girly and a good character. It's RARELY done but it's SO DAMN POSSIBLE.

Part of why I like the series in the secret, though, is because most of the characters (even the girl ones) aren't your regular ones, even if they're support/'housewife' characters. It's... so crazy.

Yeah, I agree! Just because a female character isn't kicking butt twice daily doesn't mean she can't be a good character.

Seriously, I've always thought of Sensui and Light as being similar for obvious reasons, but it NEVER occurred to me that Itsuki and Misa were analogous to each other. That's seriously awesome!

I was expecting something wonderful out of Emperor's New Groove when I finally watched it (after seeing secrets talking about it). It was a let down, sadly. I thought Disney tried too hard to step out of their usual style (they usually made their characters sing, etc. etc.) ... and as a result, the movie became dull, kind of pointless, almost more like a made-for-TV movie, or just a long special cartoon.

So much potential, trashed. That's what I remember of that movie.

12. I don't think that was the point of the secret. The point is that a lot of people are bitching about Bleach's post-Soul-Society-arc for having lots of fights and power-ups, and using this to claim that there's no character development (there is, actually, a lot of it). But the fact is... it's a shounen manga although in terms of violent content, Bleach has kinda been bordering on seinen lately >_>. It's going to have a lot of fights and so on; people use its fighting content to criticize it as having no character development, when that's a tremendous exaggeration. Some of the key character development has taken place post-SS arc, in fact.

Seriously. No. Lack of het and gen in fandom? Is not the fault of the yaoi fans. Yaoi fans should not be obligated to write (or like) het and gen. You like het and gen? WRITE SOME, instead of bitching about the yaoi fangirls for liking what they like. They're not ZOMG OPPRESHING het and gen, or stifling it, or what the hell ever. Also, you being lumped in with yaoi fans for liking the series is the fault of the people making the assumptions, not the yaoi fans.

Now, I will fully agree with you that bashing of characters because they're female or not hot sucks; badfic and OOCness and canon rape sucks; people bashing other ships, or claiming that their non-canon ships are canon, sucks. But guess what? YOU GET THAT IN EVERY SINGLE FANDOM. You get it in Bleach fandom, which is overrun with het. Why does nobody bitch about 'all these goddamn het fans have ruined my fandom!'?

And okay, you have scroll past 'pages' of yaoi ships that you 'squick' you or whatever. Well, honestly, boo-hoo =/ That's just how fandom is.

As your secret is, it comes across like you're bashing the fans for liking yaoi, rather than just for being immature/obnoxious. There's no correlation between liking yaoi and ruining fandom, sorry.

40. I'm pretty much the same way. I am as nice as I can be in person, but I will sit around on cosplay.com and snark over bad cosplay. A friend of mine who also cosplays blamed my best friend and I for the fact that he now rags on bad cosplay. Oops.

I would never not be friends with someone because they cosplayed poorly, but I would lie through my teeth to them in person about their costumes. In fact, I tend to do that at every con because there's nothing ruder than actually telling someone they suck even if they do.

Cosplay has to utilize a good deal of tact. But seriously, everyone does it. It's hard not to considering the cesspit cosplay tends to be.
