I'm pretty sure this is about to become law, controversial or not. The only remaining barrier was that many combat positions weren't available to women. Now they are.

I think women should be given the choice. I can't say any law that inflicts harm on women is a feminist law.

I am a logical rational human being and I totally get that fiction =/= reality and that sexualizing fictional children does not mean you are attracted to real children and that there are in fact plenty of reasons to write sexual situations involving children that AREN'T masturbation, but even logically knowing all of this my reaction to underage smut fic is to go 'EW WHAT THE FUCK' and wish really hard that it didn't exist. I do not tend to voice this opinion because I don't believe in censorship and am not an asshole but I still just go ewwwww get away in my head.

I find it mildly annoying that body positivity seems to be almost entirely a female-facing endeavor.

(yes, i agree societal standards on appearance and body are much more pressing and fucked-up on women than on men)

I think Americans should stay out of most discussions on the refugee crisis, because I don't think you guys actually get the scale of it and how much it can/will impact Europe.

I get really annoyed when straight (or gay, I guess) people admit to being confused over attraction to trans people and are met with overly dramatic (usually in the form of overly-punctuated but sometimes variations of ALLCAPS with a bold/italics combo and cursing) "BUT TRANS___ ARE ___!"

I mean, for example: Transmen are men, YES. But they don't have the natural equipment that is generally desired straight women or gay men. Some people can deal with it. Some can't. Either way, it can be a confusing time and hostile asses don't help.

I'm liberal, but kind of roll my eyes when friends link to websites with names like "reallyliberalprogressiverepublicansallsuck.com" and I can't find any other articles on the subject elsewhere.

I mean, maybe sometimes it's that that website is the sole beholder of the story everyone should know, but if Republicans should back up their source, so should you. I have trouble trusting a site with a definite stance already, let alone when it seems to be the only one running that story, or that version of said story.

I don't really get the point of dedicated trolling at all. I don't get why someone is that interested in getting entertainment from pissing people off or making them upset.

It just seems kind of pointless and sad to me.

Regarding disregarding canon.

I don't mind when it's a personal choice. Heaven knows I've ignored aspects of my canons I hated. But it bugs me when someone gets really upset and offended when other people talk about it or acknowledge it.

Choosing to disregard canon is a personal choice. You can't expect that everyone will do it. If it makes you mad to see other people writing about this thing you want to pretend is not canon, that's your problem.

You can't really blame the fans or the author for that.

I've never been good at holding grudges (I honestly forget about a lot of things that I might otherwise dwell on and that would make me dislike someone) but now I got guilted into doing something that means interacting with someone I had issues with last year and I don't like how much I'm still bothered by it. This is not something I wanted to get better at.

I've reached a point in my life where I care more about not being an asshole than about being right. I'd rather say things that may very well be wrong than join in on the hate parade against people I don't know and have no grudge against.

I would give anything to go back in time and never start my transition. I was a stupid kid wanting to be different and I completely fucked over my body in the process. I can't stand to even look at myself in the mirror anymore. People don't know what I even am.

I'm sort of mildly amused by everyone having a meltdown over the Sydney lockout laws and businesses closing.

I know. Blah blah freedom, economy, jobs, the government is no fun.

I think there were too many similar businesses operating in the same concentrated area, and they never really had to be competitive before because drunk people aren't all that choosy at 4am and there were a lot of drunk people. I think they modelled their businesses on the assumption that the area would always be an unregulated mess. The bars in the area have always been really slack on how much they serve people, and they don't stop serving them if they're already very intoxicated. Anyone who got sick or started fights was just tossed outside and left to vomit or start fights with other people.

I am just not feeling the devastation. Sorry?
I am finding the social media posts secretly hilarious. Some of my friends are taking selfies outside closed venues in Kings Cross and I'm thinking "ah the memories. I held your hair back while you vomited in that gutter".
