After three seasons only in the fourth do I feel that we, the audience, are finally getting to see the true side of the Doctor. And that's all because of Donna. He excepts him for who he is. This in turn allows him to just relax and be The Doctor. Not Doctor: father figure. Not Doctor: potential boyfriend. Not Doctor: Savior. Just the Doctor.

you can't have it in the middle, you either can say it or you can't.

it's not far that people can't say it in a joking manner yet gays who are the ones offended can say it (when it is a joke). i know not all homosexuals are offended by this word, but i mean it to the ones who are.

I used to share this view, but I came to realise that when a minority grabs an abusive term and turns it around, wielding it as a badge of defiance and pride, that's really different from someone else using it as a putdown. (You see this all the time, even in fandom. "Marvel Zombie" started as an insult, which Marvel readers then adopted as a "fuck you" gesture. And now it's a movie! :-)
