Buttercup is stagnant, has negative character depth and no growth in The Princess Bride. She is simply a plot object and is meaningless apart from what she adds to Westley's narrative.

-Bong Joon-ho. If you want an easy first movie of his that is mostly in English, Snowpiercer or Okja. Both are on Netflix.

If you want a monster movie, The Host. It is on Hulu.

If you want a slower drama, Mother is fantastic. It is on Netflix.

-Steve McQueen is another director I love. I'd highly recommend 12 Years A Slave. It isn't streaming anywhere unless you rent it.

John Carpenter. I think almost all of his movies are good. The Thing is probably the best starting point in general, but if you want something lighter, I'd definitely recommend Big Trouble In Little China

David Fincher. My faves of his are Seven, Fight Club, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, and the TV series Mind Hunter.

Ang Lee
His body of work is really all over the map when it comes to genres, but most of his films are themed around relationships between people so if you like dramas Ang Lee's films might have hidden gems for you. I would recommend The Wedding Banquet to get a taste of what Ang Lee films are like. Also, The Ice Storm is great. If you want some action with drama and for some reason you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. My favorite film of his is Brokeback Mountain.

Sofia Coppola
Lost in Translation is a great film of hers and it has one of my favorite performances by Bill Murray. The Bling Ring is a solid film too. For a smaller and more intimate film I would recommend Somewhere (Stephen Dorff's best performance). My favorite film of hers is Marie Antoinette.

Guillermo del Toro
I know, I know, he's everyone's favorite director. He makes whatever he wants and he loves monsters! I'd recommend Pacific Rim for a blockbuster action film. Pan's Labyrinth is the best representation of what his films are like.

Though I never saw Avatar and don't want to. But I enjoy many of his other movies - The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Titanic.

Summer or winter off?

You can either take an extended period of time over summer or winter as a paid vacation every year for the rest of your life. Which would you pick? What would you do?

I'd pick summer and I'd spend it camping in woods, climbing mountains, swimming in waterfalls and reading books because i'm a total hippy.

do they always have women in tv shows/in movies who throw up just sort of lean down over a toilet or the ground and be sick? As a person with long hair, even if you're struggling to get to the toilet in time, you GRAB THAT MESS and hold it back. Bad enough if you get vomit in your hair, but if you draggle it down into the toilet, too.....?

What are your 'whhhhhhys' for nit-picky tv/movie stuff? Especially if you are/do/have the 'thing' (like long hair), and they always treat it wrong or weird.
