I could have written this secret. Gaiman is overrated. He has fantastic ideas but his execution is always weak. The only solo book of his that I've really liked is Stardust.

Tom Ellis' entire family, (father, sister, grandfather, uncles) are all Pastors and apparently love the show.

But I know my Aunt who is a Minister would have over reacted to it when she was heavily in her evangelical phase, so I can understand you being cautious.

I hope you find people to talk to about it though.

I have weird feelings about Tohru. I want to like her because she is a sweetheart and all, but I tend to feel mostly meh towards her. I only felt something other than indifference towards her near the end of the manga because she did some neat things, but yeah. I definitely agree that the Sohmas and all their personal drama was more interesting than Tohru, but that's a problem that's not unique to Fruits Basket. Twilight's another series that has a similar problem because everybody's way more interesting than Bella and Edward.
