Obscure / Historical Ships

(Anonymous) 2019-10-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Based on #3 and #6 - what are your favorite super-obscure ships or ships between historical people?

Re: Obscure / Historical Ships

(Anonymous) 2019-10-13 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I’ve shipped Edgar Allen Poe/Emily Dickinson since middle school when we did a section on his poetry followed by her poetry.

Does it count if I ship Anne of Cleves/happiness? Because her engagement and marriage to Henry VIII sounded like an awful disaster but she escaped a beheading and by all accounts had a pretty happy life as a single woman.

Obscure (not historical): Jade/Nephry from Tales of the Abyss. Super-duper rare, even for a series of games that isn't shy about its incest ships.

Also I really like Cid/Alphinaud from FFXIV? But as far as I can tell it literally doesn't exist? I don't get it. The main ship for Alphinaud (outside of WoL) seems to be Estinien, which, okay, I can see that, but... nothing of Cid? The guy who's literally like "MY BOY, I COULD KISS YOU" whenever Alphinaud breathes? So strange.

Alexander/Hephaistion (I've gone through all the historical fiction that acknowledges them... it's not a lot and I'm sad.)

Lucrezia Borgia/Alfonso of Aragon (They loved each other, but all people are ever interested in is the incest that never happened)

Henry VII/Elizabeth of York

Both historically and obscure, since I first fell for them playing AC, Cesare/Micheletto. I have such a thing for bff bodyguard ships, and these two fit perfectly in that category.

Whatcha doing today, FS?

Tell us all about it!

I slept in late and had leftover falafel and rice for breakfast, that was takeout yesterday. The falafel was still crunchy and the sauce had gotten better and spicier overnight and was quite tasty. After breakfast I smoked a bowl and took a nice long shower, then I gave myself a mani-pedi and used two different sets of fall-themed nail polish strips, a solid purple shade and a transparent black floral design set over that, and it turned out great. Right now I'm sipping on rose tea and waiting for my nails to dry while I watch football. Going out to dinner with my husband this evening, he's taking me to my favorite French bistro. I'm off work tomorrow too, yay!

Woke up, had coffee, watched the new GBBO, made some spaghetti for lunch and another coffee, watching the football a bit, will garden and do groceries later on, not too bad.

Drove home from my sister's house. I am so tired but trying not to nap. Working on learning a new stitch.

Laundry! I got it all washed, but I'm procrastinating on folding/putting everything away (especially since I also did my bedsheets). Gonna put it off for a little longer, then I'll probably pick a good scary movie to put on for motivation while I fold.

I'm trying to teach myself more words and questions to sign. I'm pretty limited. It's nice to know I still remember a fair bit but I would have trouble holding a conversation because I would have to spell out words I don't know.

Re: Whatcha doing today, FS?

Just earlier I went into town to return the key to a venue I used over the weekend (I didn't rent it, but a group I belong to did), and when I was done, my mum and I went across the street to get drinks and a cinnamon roll from a shop we know. They have *amazing* cinnamon rolls, they're huge and sticky and wonderful, mum and I shared one between us.
But when we ordered, mum got out money and was told that the shop was going cashless. Now, I don't mind paying by card - I do that most of the time anyway - but I don't like not having a choice in the matter, and it bothers me that a business that's filled with postcards for gay pride / save the whales / free the greyhounds, would adopt a business practice that is (if not deliberately, then as a pretty obvious side effect) anti-poor.
So now I'm trying to work out if I can muster the courage to message them on facebook about it.

Trying to persuade myself to make an appointment with the GP... but I'm pretty sure my usual doctor at the practice I go to has left, and it's such a drag when the secretary asks 'And who's your usual doctor?' and I'm like, 'well, I guess I don't have one anymore...'

I bought a bass guitar. I got about three months of use out of it, and it's been standing in parent's house since then, gathering dust. I knew that was a possibility when I got it but I still feel bad about it, mostly because years go by without me even remembering it exists.

Drawing tablet. I hate it. I'm old and I don't enjoy digital art. I like to smell pencils and feel paper.

What item did you buy that you had no expectations for...

(Anonymous) 2019-10-13 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
that ended up being amazing?

What are some things from cultures different from your own that you sometimes wonder about? Can be as mundane and small as you want.
