What's even more awkward is when I want to dissect/deep dive into something but don't really feel like defending everything I say about it to the world? If that makes sense? It's really awkward because yes, I know that I'm sometimes super dumb and make dumb mistakes in my analysis, but I don't feel like defending my entire existence atm, please come back later. Yeah, my mom is a lot like this. She gets mad at me and my brother when we're watching stuff with her sometimes, because he and I like to dissect the movie/show while we watch, nitpick plotholes, comment on camera angles and symbolism, and try to predict what will happen next based on storytelling tropes etc, and she just wants to watch without the peanut gallery making a running commentary.

Honor Harrington books? You mean the series where a cardboard-cutout Mary Sue goes through the most heavy-handed, simplistic, black-and-white version of The French Revolutionary Wars In Space without anything interesting happening at any point? Seriously I would be so ready to love the Honor Harrington books if they were any good at all

Also, the Vorkosigan books are rock-solid starting from The Vor Game (I like the earlier books too but I consider the Miles series to begin with The Vor Game) (and definitely better than David Weber) if you're not into it by then you probably never will be
