I commented on the original post that you must not mind reading, basically, heroic fantasy madlibs.

Hearing that at least one short sci-fi fiction magazine had to shut down submissions when they were inundated with AI generated stories didn't change my initial assumption at all.

I never had any desire to professionally publish or sell my work. Most all my original writing has been or at least began as assignments, and most of my fanfic is drawerfic and all only written for fun.

But I enjoy thinking about the thought process behind a story when I read it; why this word choice, why this plot point, wow I wish I could do that... and "because an AI learned to ape lots of writers but doesn't understand any of them or what it's doing" just doesn't make for fun reading, for me.

I tried ChatGPT to create drabbles for one of my fandoms but the writing was way too cringe. Maybe I'll try it again with the new update.

Also, ChatGPT gives very weird answers when trying to get info on authors on AO3. Like asking who the biggest authors for fandoms are, what tags are used in which fandoms, most popular writers in a pairing, etc. Even accounting for the fact that the data is from last year. It's pretty funny. Asking about fandom stuff in general can be pretty hilarious.

There's plenty of people still writing those kinds of short stories, and if you can't find it, it means you're more interested in whining than looking. I'm glad you found a way to get stories you like though!

Awww, I was pleased for Trixie. She's come such long way, she's had such an interesting character arc; I love that she's so serious in her work and so GOOD at it, but still the hopeful, longing girl who wants the wedding and the flowers and the romance.....

Matthew is a little weird, though; not the one I'd have chosen for her. Oh well!
