I submitted a secret about mine a while back because it was pretty embarrassing, but Paranorman.

I saw the trailer shown with the Olympics which had a zombie gymnast and thought that was an awesome premise for a movie- and then a few days later I found out what the actual plot was about and was irrationally disappointed.

it doesn't help that neither of them are particularly good actors. But these have been the shout-y seasons.

I agree about X-Men: First Class. The first half of the movie was promising but the second half totally turned to shit. It could have been so much better.

Well, I wouldn't want to be Rory. I'd love having a Rory as a personal pet/concubine though. I guess he's just very naturally submissive.

Where the fuck have you been? Those definitely exist.

I'm with everyone else, wondering what exactly is so squicky about this ship to you.

I've never really been into the idea of them together either, but I love their friendship.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
THANK YOU. I'm so tired of this idea that you can either be gay or straight. No, there are definitely other sexualities out there, and bisexuality doesn't just mean an equal attraction to males and females.

Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief

I was excited because the book was such an easy translation from book to film but then everyone involved with the movie was like, "LOL No. *shits all over cool premise*"

Sure you can delete and repost. Even in a small fandom. Put up a notice that it's an extensive rewrite. You may find yourself gaining back the audience your poor choices lost you.

That's hot.

I recently watched my second and third episodes with them. It was the episodes The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone. Really had only Amy but I got Rory in the first episode I saw with them.

Anyway, I was a little... disappointed she chose to attempt to cheat on her fiancé right before her wedding night.

Also, what is up with every woman on the show falling in love with the Doctor (Except Donna)?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh...that's not how I see it. There are certainly women who identify as lesbians who are a four, five, or six on the Kinsey scale, so I don't see that "if she were a human, she would be called a lesbian" as definite proof of non-bisexuality.

You're either a troll or in denial over your actual interest in Loki, but the guro fan in me is gleeful at the imagery nonetheless.
brightblueink: The cast of the first season of Digimon. (Nostalgia)

Unless you really dislike boss/underling because of the power dynamics inherent in that, I'm not really seeing what is squick worthy.

That's the only thing I can come up with. Maybe OP's hesitance to talk about it is because she has a personal experience that gave her (or him) that squick? I can't imagine why else it would be such a big deal.

lol i expected a lot more wank from this

wondering if some sort of psychological study can be done on how much influence the first few commenters have on setting the tone for the rest of the thread.

Yeah, the Borg are kind of sexy. I like Seven either way, though.

Yeah me, too, only I don't demand proof. (I mean how would anyone even do that? Drop trou and take pics?) If someone says they are male, I believe they are male. Otherwise, I default to female.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
She is utterly self-centered, but that also means she's utterly Rory-centered because she literally can't stand to live without him. And he is a pathetic sap because he feels the same way about her. They're miserable, fucked-up people.

And that's why I love them.

Herschell Gordon Lewis' The Wizard of Gore. A magician "tortures" women on stage but they're actually fine, and leave the theater in one piece... only to be found later dead of the same wounds. But it's in a locked room, or some other fashion where the guy couldn't have done it himself. Heck, the first woman dies in public, where someone murdering a woman in that fashion would have been noticed. It's an interesting idea, but Lewis was a very, very low budget director, so it has bad effects, terrible acting, and is just... not good.

The original Tron movie. I love that movie because of its potential, not because of its actual story.
brightblueink: Gif of Femio from Princess Tutu being dramatic accompanied by the lyrics of "Never Gonna Give You Up" (Never gonna give you up)

I think that's how it is in most places. The only places where my assumptions are switched are places dedicated to video game talk (like GameFAQs) and 4chan. (Yeah, I count 4chan as fandom, whether they like it or not.)

[personal profile] unicornherds 2012-09-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, right there with you.
brightblueink: Madoka looking surprised and holding a cat (Make love not war)

[personal profile] brightblueink 2012-09-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the saying they're male counts as 'proven otherwise'? It's just an expression.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ben Stiller's friend is horribly butchered, so he starts a neighborhood watch. The only people to actually show up are these guys and together they realize that the murderer was actually an alien, so they proceed to track the aliens down and destroy them. It's hilarious, if not very original.
