Feminism and Race

Hi there FS! I have a bit of problem.

I've been dabbling in women's rights activism for a while, and I recently decided to join a feminist group on my campus. I'm only Asian there (I'm Indian fyi), there's a few black girls, but the rest are white.

Basically my issue is whenever the topic of Indian culture comes up (any type of Asian culture actually, but Indian is obviously the most sensitive to me), I feel very uncomfortable. I have no problem with recognizing there are gender issues in my culture, but the way these girls talk about it, they speak of it like the whole culture is a disease and we're a disgusting, savage people. I feel like there's a lot of racist and colonial undertones in what they're saying. I feel alienated and set apart from the rest of the group. They're not hostile to me, but the feel badly for me because I was 'unlucky' enough to be born into Indian culture. I find to be very condescending.

Any advice?

Hello Fandomsecrets! I'm looking for some good beginner essays on various topics. Sorry for using you as Google, I just couldn't find anything.
The first topic would be for myself, I'm trying to get into US Politics (I'm not from the US myself though), and I have been watching the debates, but I feel like, well, let's just say that the honestly, straight answers and truth spoken overwhelmed me. I'd like to know the "real" pros and cons of both parties, what we could realistically expect from them, the potential of a civil war in about 24 years and so on.

The second is for a good friend of mine - he's not looking down on women or treating us differently or anything, so I was really surprised by this. Basically, he wrote a story about 7 different characters. Only one was a woman, she was married, and cheated on her husband by working as a prostitute. While I consider prostitution a legit job as any other, it bothered me that the only woman in the story was written off as a sex object, and telling him this got the reply of "Don't be such a feminazi". My explanations usually end up all over the place, so just a quick breakthrough of women's representation in media would be amazing. Thank you.

God I feel so stupid. I just triggered myself into a massive guilt spiral. I should have known better than to go looking at that kind of stuff.

I have problems with mom type stuff, because my mom killed herself when I was a baby. It was partly my fault. I was hard to keep and raise.

I just realized. There's this character I love, who is a bit dim, likes to talk a lot, makes a lot of bad decisions, a mess it up pretty bad in the end. Still, I like it because he's utterly funny and seems to be a nice guy despite all those things.

Now, one of my coworkers is just like him, almost exactly, only she's a woman. But, she NEVER SHUTS UP, has the compulsion to speak whatever she's thinking right in that instant without really thinking in what she's really saying, makes lots of mistakes and bad decisions at work (and people usually facepalm around her a lot), and she tries to make a joke of everything.

And I just realized. They are alike, painfully alike, so why I love one but I despise so much the other?

Have anything like this happened to you?
