Re: Has anyone else ever been on early enough to see...

Yeah. I've also seen the keysmashes Case used to do a few times.

If Graham didn't have the ability to consent, why was he able to leave Regina for Emma?

If Crixus didn't have the ability to consent, why did Lucretia leave him alone when he asked her to even though she thought that time was her only chance to get pregnant?

That episode was so damn distressful, omg. I know that was the point but seriously, I was just so disturbed and scared during the entire thing. It was definitely a brilliant episode, but one I won't be re-watching anytime soon.

(Also, the finale was horrible. Or excellent. But still horrible.)

Most disappointing cliffhanger resolution?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
In all the shows you watch, what was the most disappointing resolution to a cliffhanger you've ever experienced?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
omg TW for bad JPEGs pls

Re: How do you deal with anxiety?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you looked into meditation? Being able to calm yourself down with breathing techniques and whatnot may help lessen some of the attacks.

I also tend to gravitate towards warm things (baths, hot cocoa, bundling up in blankets, etc...) when I'm stressed out, so that may also be an option if it's not too warm out for it where you are.

My partner (who has a lot of experience with managing anxiety) says he just counteracts the attacks with happy things, like funny videos or shows, or listening to music - stuff like that.

Good luck! And I hope they lessen at least a bit!

there's this weird defense mechanism people have where they assume victims of crime deserve it so that we don't have to acknowledge that the problem of unprovoked/undeserved mugging and assault exist. but that doesn't extend to animals, also part of a human superiority that assumes animals can't make choices or be naturally inclined toward violence. thus they are seen to be as innocent as small children. that's why we have Kick/Pet The Dog tropes. people consider a person's treatment of animals to be a somehow more significant and reliable way to judge them than their treatment of people. so mistreating even one animal, regardless of mental or emotional state, is enough to turn the world against you, even though you'd expect that evolution would generally turn our focus to the human victims...

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
dude, but isn't that how it feels sometimes? And what's wrong with saying having what looks like a young girl saying that after a bad experience? Especially since a good amount of allies on anything (be it women's rights, LGBT rights, Civil rights) sometimes are fucking assholes that talk over the people they want to help and try to dictate how we should act, react, and think.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
A repeated pattern or behaviour is worse than a one off.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's nice to know that he's changed. I think violent criminals can be rehabilitated, if we put enough resources into it, so knowing this actually gives me hope :)

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I can understand feeling like that. I just think it's ironic that this opinion is being espoused in a webcomic that is written by a man.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Expect all a lot of male allies do is talk over us and tell us how we should react to things? That isn't support.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
DID Graham leave, though? I thought he continued having sex with Regina and when he tried to fight it, she killed him.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about the second lady, but Lucretia is a rapist. The whole dynamic of Lucretia having sex with her slaves is rapey as hell. A slave can't say no.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Re: Graham. One, in Storybrooke he didn't remember the power she had over him. And two, he wasn't free to leave her, since she killed him immediately after he tried to, using the heart she had stolen from him.

Romantic gestures

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone wanna mention their favorite little romantic gestures that a fictional couple you ship have done for each other? I don't mean "X and Y's entire relationship" or "huge sacrifice X made for Y", I just mean little sweet things that made you go awwwww.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember thinking during Blood and Sand that I wished Lucretia would get a taste of her own rapey medicine. Then I watched Vengeance, and I realized that raping-the-rapist in no way makes thing better, nor does it give the viewer any sense of closure. (Aaaand this is exactly the lesson I was supposed to take away from Spartacus not killing Illythia.)

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I think a lot of (western) fandom don't realise how darkly tanned some Asian people can be naturally and instantly go for the "they must be part black, etc." Maybe because most east-Easian celebs are really pale for whatever reason?

One suspect, not moving.

Edit: Disregard, he is all kinds of moving.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I get that. I was referring to fans who say, for example, "I like that all these couples fail! It's so much more realistic than the happy fairy tale ending!"

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I'm a bit impressed he realizes that sometimes allies of any kind are fucking shitty no matter how well they mean.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of things that can make sense logically or intellectually but that you don't really get until something clicks. I don't see that as offensive.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that idea is completely ignoring the owner/slave power dynamic. :(

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Then they're shitty allies and need to be told that. I mean the REAL ones, usually who keep quiet in discussion because they know it's not their place. They do exist, problem is the best thing most of the time for them to do is to stand back and let us be our own voices - it might make them invisible but they know it's not about them. Unfortunately then people think they just don't exist at all - but they do.

Then they're not male allies by definition, duh. Actual male allies are actual allies who do support women.
