The secret you'd never make because you know it'd be called a troll

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Put it here. The unpopular opinion you have, or the one that'd be seen as problematic, or because you thought the troll was serious and agreed till everybody else called it. This isn't non!fandom secrets, still do actual fandom shit!

THIS. If the 'I SHIP IT' secrets are still allowed chances are that I would post my pairings all months long.

Of course, I could make a more detailed secret about them, but I just figured that it just too much of a hassle.

Man, coming up with crack ships and plausible reasons why they might like each other is a game my fiancé and I play sometimes. We have some pretty stupid and hilarious ones.

not only did I like "Blurred lines", but watching it I had the best orgasm I've ever had. And I thought it was rapey.

I found Charlie Brown sad, not funny

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Most kids probably didn't think this, but I always thought Charlie Brown's stories were sad. I found everyone else funny, I loved Peanuts obsessively actually, but I never understood why I was supposed to think the shit the kid got was comedy.

An Unexpected Opnion

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mostly I'd just get hate, but I tried to read LOTR. I liked Fellowship enough, but The Two Towers was so tedious it made me fall asleep. But I loved the movies. In other words, I liked the LOTR movies better than the books.

At least as a teen. Maybe if I read them now it would be different.

I love River's character from Firefly, and don't understand why everyone hates her.

I'm one of the few people who think Asami's character was uninteresting. Say what you will about Korra being a brat, I'd rather have negative traits than 'Uh, likes cars I guess. And has nice hair?"

Here's a problematic secret I did make because I can't think of any I didn't make

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2013-09-26 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Like one of the first secrets I made was about how I really liked Dev Patel's Zuko and that didn't care that the movie Firebenders were all, well, Indian-esque. The whole thread was people calling me out as a troll, but I really wasn't trolling. I understand why it's a problematic opinion now, but I didn't understand why it was back then (though, tbh, my opinion hasn't changed).

I think SJWs who focus entirely on pop culture for their "crusades" are a joke. Go out and do something that matters. "Blurred lines" doesn't matter. The fact that in the US, states are stripping away women's reproduction rights does. Step away from tumblr and write to your congress person and do something.

I liked the SHIELD pilot. It's not the best thing I've seen of Joss', but.. it IS a pilot. I think the onscreen chemistry could be better, but otherwise, I'm interested to see where it goes and it made me laugh a few times.

I hate men. I really hate men. Being in their presence sickens me. Talking to them fills me with a near uncontrollable rage. I hate men and I would happily press a button, if such a thing existed, that would kill them all.
I know this is extreme, but I don't fucking care.

I really didn't think 'Dark Side of the Moon' was that great. I much preferred 'Wish you were Here'.

I still hold what Dwayne MacDuffie did to the Ben 10 franchise against him. I know he did a lot of good other things and all, but he stomped one of my favorite shows so hard and was so flippant about it on his website.

I feel sorry for Miley Cyrus.

When I look at her, I just see a young woman who is trying too hard to prove that she is happy when deep down, I don't think she is.

I've always wanted to do a social experiment that tests people's reactions to a situation based on gender. Basically....a secret saying about how a person is in love with a fandom friend who they know doesn't share the same feeling. No "how dare they" just "geez I'm really bummed out about this" . Secret background suggests OP is a girl and the friend is a guy.

Wait for the "it's okay" and encouraging comments in the comments, and then reveal that OP is a guy and the friend was a girl. Wait for inevitable accusations of Entitled Nice Guy.

Partly because well...I'm tired of people confusing actual "Nice Guys" with guys who express sadness about unrequited love. Because well...unrequited love sucks for anyone, but Entitled Guys are a specific kind of entitled disappointment. "I wish she would notice me" is not Nice Guy.

"I do x y and z for her why doesn't she hook up with me?" It's all about the entitlement, not the gender of a person wishing their crush would notice them.

I know it's a horrible thing to think, but I would actually be happy if an actor in one of my fandoms were to break up with his girlfriend and get together with one of his costars.

I don't think bronies as a whole are that bad. No worse than the rest of internet fandom anyway. I'd make a secret, but the inevitable deluge of "no no no no, you don't understand, they are a special evil, they did X bad thing!!" is sure to make my eyes roll right out of my skull. I have been in fandom for years, I have seen some shit. Bronies are nothing special.

I occasionally leave pretty harsh reviews on fanfics that portray my favourite characters in ridiculously shitty ways. I'll usually try to compliment something in the writing because I feel bad about it, but I'll go to town on the characterization.

I get really angry when watching a show about the earth/entire civilisation/something affecting all of us

and we get fucking America over and over and over
specifically NYC and the statue of liberty and it just, it may be a great movie but I am so sick of seeing major american cities in response to worldwide disasters all the time.

I want more LGBT representation in media and always want to see more bi characters- except for Stiles from Teen Wolf and Dean from Supernatural. I hate the Sterek and Destiel camps so much, I really don't want them to have any part of their (ship) wishes fulfilled.

I never, never, never thought I'd be like this, but I've totally become that person who hates the canonical female love-interest for getting in the way of my male/male OTP. Ridiculous, I know.

I used to scoff at the whole idea of ship wars and OTPs. I didn't even like slash, until recently. I was in a fandom that was mostly Gen, before. On an intellectual level, I know it's silly. But it's happened, anyway.

Fandom is totally the "slippery slope" where you end up getting into stuff that you swore you'd never get into. Five years ago, I thought the whole notion of caring intensely about a pairing was dumb and bizarre. And on some level, I know it is. But now I'm doing it.

Flame away. *shrug*
