Arthur/Eames. Why do so many people ship them? I am confused.

The banter, I think. I tried writing it once. The chemistry fell flat but I had fun with the dialogue.

A bit offtopic, but because I've never seen Inception so when people post about this pairing, I always think they're pairing up Eames from L&O:Criminal Intent with some dude from the movie. And everytime I realize my mistake, I'm super disappointed. I love Eames.

I'm going to piss people off, but pretty much all the incesty ones.

Big one: SPN, also Thor/Loki (yeah he's adopted, but still).

Only incest pairing I can sort of tolerate is Cersei/Jaime because it's canon and obviously fucked up, but the dynamic really dos not appeal to me, especially if portrayed as completely healthy relationship.

Maybe not the ship itself -- I can see the appeal in anything if I try hard enough -- but the sheer popularity.

Eridan/Sollux. I keep thinking I'm missing something, because that many people do not all support a pairing because it's two hot-or-as-close-as-Homestuck-gets guys. Help?

I get why people ship it, but every time I try to read fic for that pairing I am soooo bored. Which sucks, because it's a popular pairing. I could just never get into it.

I don't think I have any pairings I don't get? Used to not get Clint/Coulson, but that was like two years ago.

Snape/Anyone. When I was a teenager, I thought I was somehow doing fandom wrong because I didn't love Snape.

Because calling someone "darling" = automatic shipping. Obviously. God I hate that pairing.

Oh and The Closer... I don't know where exactly the Brenda/Sharon ship materialized from but I don't understand it. I mean I appreciate a fandom with a prominent femslash ship, but that one just comes out of nowhere to me. It just seems that Fritz and Brenda complete each other way better than Sharon would? Also maybe I just want a Fritz of my very own? Who wouldn't?!

I'm okay with Arthur/Eames (I don't really love it or hate it, but if it's a good fic then I'll read it) but hardcore ship Cobb/Saito (I don't know what it is about them, but that ship really gets me going) so I feel your pain

Grimmjow/Ichigo. I've tried and failed multiple times to understand how this became the main slash ship. I will never understand this one.

Darcy/Bucky. I saw that tag on a fic and could only think ...seriously?

Harry/Ginny. The pairing seemed way to forced and contrived in canon for me to buy it for a second, plus I was really put-off by the implication that Harry/Ginny is a James/Lily karmic do-over. I suppose I can see shipping it in the same way people ship Harry/Luna or Harry/Cho (seeing the potential and falling in love with the pairing) but I don't understand loving that awkward mess that was in canon.

Sasuke/Sakura. Sasuke was my favorite character for a long time, but he became too much of a jerk for me to like, let alone ship with anyone, and I've wanted Sakura to grow beyond her crush and into a badass powerful kunoichi from the beginning, but she just keeps getting sidelined to narrating what's going on in fights. I WANT to like the ship, but I just think Sakura deserves better.

Steve/Tony. I don't know about the comics, but they had next to no chemistry together in The Avengers to me.

Dean/Lisa. I liked Lisa, but I always felt like the writers just put here there to be Deans consolation prize so despite everything they did to establish her as a cool character too many big things were glossed over to smosh her back into the love interest mold. They hadn't seen each other for years after one weekend together, then he left for several more years after a couple days. I couldn't believe she just accepted a random love confession on her doorstep and let him into her life like that.

Itachi/Kisame. They tolerated each other enough to work together, but they never felt like they had any chemistry or even anything remotely in common.

Darcy/anyone who isn't from the Thor movies, and actually I don't get Darcy/Loki either.

This one has been said a million times before but Clint/Coulson. Like I can sort of see how it could be an interesting idea but I do not get it's sheer popularity. It's weird.

Aragorn/Legolas, have to admit I really don't get it, and I can usually find a reason for most ships even if I don't personally ship them.

Furuya/Haruichi - Seems nothing but pair the spares for Miyuki/Eijun to me.

Taguchi/Ueda

McShep. I get why it is a ship, but I don't get why it became an example of an iconic slashy pairing. Imo, the two didn't really have that much of a special friendship with each other.

Arthur/Eames triggered for me because Eames spent the whole pretty much the whole movie taking passive-aggressive snipes at Arthur like a bitchy schoolgirl with an unrequited crush, and that was enough. But then it was all complimented by a couple of little moments where they show concern and respect for each other, as well. The dialogue writes itself, and the romance comes easily after that.

One pairing I have never been able to process is Faye/Spike. I get why it launched, main male and female character, it isn't rocket science, but they're far too much alike, to me. I can never see them as anything but rival siblings fatally attracted to people who are their complete opposites (I swear they're both in love with Julia).

Jaime and Cersei. To me, it seems like genuinely viewing their relationship as romantic is missing the point. Even weirder, most Jaime and Cersei shippers actually want Jaime to kill Cersei in the end. I'm so confused.

Any Thranduil/[Dwarf] pairing.

Thranduil comes off as being anywhere between sneeringly dismissive of dwarves, to outright hating them. The Dwarves in turn should have outright distrustful attitudes to him, some (like Thorin) for more personal reasons than others.

I'd also state certain canon-dictated factors like the strongly implied monogamy in LotR-verse, and how much of an anathema rape is supposed to be to Elves, but both of those get ignored to a fingers-in-ears-and-singing-loudly extent.

I feel the same to a lesser degree about any Mirkwood Elf/Dwarf pairing barring Legolas/Gimli, but I do think that only works during LotR events, because in Hobbit events [movie] Legolas is too much of an asshole and Gimli is too young.
