So…my spoiler-y post is visible. Kind of a fuck-up on my part…not sure how to fix it.

Anyway, I'm not very fond of the title for several reasons:

1. It sounds pretty generic
2. It reminds me too much of The Force Unleashed
3. It doesn't fit with the pattern established by previous trilogies -- with episodes IV and I, the titles -- A New Hope and The Phantom Menace -- both referred to a person (Episode IV to Luke and perhaps Leia while Episode I could refer to Maul, Anakin, or Palpatine)

Not a big deal but…not really that excited about it either. I feel like they're very much playing it safe with the title. Attack of the Clones got a lot of flack for the title, but I always really liked it, not just because it mirrored Empire Strikes Back but also because it subtly reminded audiences that it was the Republic that first launched an attack with troops and, interestingly, that the clones were the Republic's soldiers.

So, do you suspect only one anon is responsible for all the talk of a certain fandom (which fandom?) and does it bug you?

Fandom etiquette

A friend and I wrote each other gift stories in our tiny fandom a coupla years back. She's a really good friend – we met through the pairing – and I loved the story and said so. Now she wants to rewrite it into an original novel – in fact she took it down without notice earlier this year for that purpose, until I said “hang on, it's a gift fic for me.” She wants to reopen the discussion and it's sent me into a tailspin of “I'm less important than money.” I've got no idea how to react – should I just say “Oh, WHATEVER,” or bugger off, or tell her how it makes me feel?
I've posted this elsewhere too; I really am that confused.

Attachment to Everyday Functional Objects

Is it common to get attached to inanimate objects that you use everyday?

I'm excluding extremely interactive objects (computers/phones, gaming devices, cars/bikes), and objects imbued with sentimental value (gifts from loved ones, childhood toys). I just mean functional items like a reading pillow, a lamp, or a favorite coffee mug.

For me, I take medication that gives me dry mouth, so I keep a water bottle upstairs in my room all the time. A few years ago, I went to a con in Denver and they gave out these big water bottles for hydration at elevation. It was a large size (32+ oz), easy to clean, great for using at my desk or keeping by my bed at night. Because I was there with my parents, we had 3 of these bottles. Unfortunately, because they are squeeze bottles, they tend to split along the seam in the plastic with repeated use.

Bottle #3 is on its last legs now, and I've just had to do a lot of comparison shopping to find a good replacement for it. I've ordered one that looks good and long-lasting, but I'm also really attached to the Denver bottles and worried I won't like the new Nathan bottle as much as these ones. This is a normal reaction to something you use everyday, right?

Weird Things You Get Complicated On

What are some unusual compliments that you've gotten about yourself? For example, whenever I go to the Optometrist, I always get complicated on how well my eyes dilate (usually for regular eye exams, they don't even give me the dilating drops because my pupils always seem to be semi-dilated anyway). I had a minor eye procedure today, and almost every nurse I saw would say something to the effect of "Wow, your eyes really dilate! I wish every patient could be like that." It always makes me laugh a little

... How trollish of me would it be to point out a, Jesus was born in September (according to Biblical Scholars), and b, we borrowed Christmas from Pagan traditions?

I'm a Christian who loves Christmas, but let people celebrate Christmas - or NOT celebrate Christmas - however they want.

Does anyone have opinions about this? I haven't upgraded my iOS since I got my computer in... 2011, I think, so it's still some breed of cat. I didn't hear good things about the other upgrades, but this one looks good, so far. Granted that's from the app reviews, so they're skewed, but!

What do you techies think? Anyone Apple junkies kickin' around here who can give a girl some insight about the interface? Let's just say I need intuitive. I don't monkey around with my device much, and I just want it to run Word, go to internet, play my music, and make movies happen (basic cut/paster/upload, for school review).
