I somehow did not know that CGI de-ageing was a thing. I don't watch many movies though so it's possible I haven't seen it in action yet. I'm all for older actors getting parts but it seems kind of strange to me to not hire a younger actor to play a younger guy. (I'm not addressing that movie specifically because I didn't see it.)

That had me yelling "NO!" at the screen, instantaneously. And the clothes are far too smart. Clothes rationing had been a thing since June 1941. I think they might have managed a motor-cycle and side-car, in the style of Wallace and Gromit, but nothing bigger. The road was far too well-made, too.

Then I wondered if they're supposed to be shady, Flash-Harry type characters, and that's where they got the car and the clothes. But I didn't wonder long. I made it to the end of the first episode and gave up. It was a real mess.

The time travel, oddly enough, didn't bother me at all.

I love skill-based reality shows, but it really wrecks it for me when there's blatant favoritism. (It's okay if the judges have different faves and argue about it though.)

I hate it how some people go all "Galadriel knew all along, she's so awesome!". Like, Galadriel is great and all but if she really had known all along (instead of being just, idk, mildly suspicious of Annatar's motives) and didn't actually do anything about it, it would really make her much, much less awesome than she really is.

I agree and I would apply the same, more or less, to the LotR movies at this point. My problem with them is just about the visual style and the way the movies were directed and look, not with the changes from the original book.
