Every time I publicly say I'm a fan of a celebrity, they without fail immediately turn around and do something that makes me embarrassed to have called myself a fan.

Luckily it's always awkward cringe rich ppl shit and hypocrisy, not surprise bigotry or deliberately harming others. But I hesitate to call myself a fan of anyone any more because damn.

I feel this way sometimes, too, OP.

I'm a (former) fan of both JK Rowling and Neil Gaiman, and they're downright AWFUL. I found an old post being excited to meet Neil Gaiman the other day, and I felt myself cringe from every part of my body.

Yeah. Unfortunately, this kind of thing seems inevitable. When you're rich and famous, it's easy to lose perspective on how to behave like a normal person. There are fewer checks and balances on bad behavior, the consequences aren't so bad, or they're easier to handle and overcome if you've got money and social clout. Also you might be surrounded by enablers who just enjoy that free ride.

The Eldest daughter thing isn't only about suffering the worst you can, it's the social expectation for daughters to take care of everyone around them regardless of their own mental wellbeing. Social class frankly does not matter one bit when it comes to things like that.

I didn't even like her at the time, but now when I think of the show, I get properly angry that they killed her off like that. I kind of want to blame the House-Wilson shippers, but I know they didn't have that much sway over writing decisions at the time. Still wouldn't be their fault, of course. Pretty standard status-quo enforcement by the show.

Just because ACD killed Mary Morstan, it doesn't mean all adaptations have to follow in those footsteps. (Looking at you too, BBC Sherlock)

Whenever there's a TV series or crime documentary set in Glasgow, I enjoy hearing the delightful Glaswegian accent. Especially when they say "murder".

I'm not trying to downplay the seriousness of a real crime or tragedy, but goddamn that word sounds so cute in that accent. (So full of buzzy rrrrrrr sounds!)

Bonus secret: I find ALL accents from the UK and Ireland to be musical to the ear. Yes, even Birmingham accents.
