I used to be a fandom addict. All through uni my days looked like this: got up at 7 a.m., read/wrote fics all day, went to sleep next day at 3 a.m. Got up again at 7...
Little sleep, being tired, irritated, mostly failing my exams, but still fandom kept me alive. No one knows this. I got better with time, friends and family thought I was depressed at the time (and I was), but really I only survived uni by becoming obsessed with fandom. Just wanted it out here.

I realize this is a dumb thing to care about, but I hate when people use the line, "For a genius, you sure are dumb. (oblivious, etc.)"

I think it stems from my time in SGA fandom, but anytime I read it in my current fandoms it ruins the moment for me.

I miss when me and my friend would talk about our stupid headcanon stuff for our fandom when we hung out/talked online, when it just felt like the two of us, instead of having to hear about all the stuff she's doing with our other fandom friends all the time. I just feel kind of left out cause they've all become really close and I'm just kind of on the fringes of it :\

I really fucking hate it when I find a show/movie/comic book I've liked for months and months and I've tried getting my RL friends into it and they're just not interested. A few months later they come back and go on about how awesome it is when I'm already done with it.

For once it'd just be nice to have one of my RL friends be into a show the same time as me so I can have someone to be overly excited about it with.

BS thing! : I'm actually sort of glad none of my friends are as much into The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes right now, I don't want to fucking share Bruce Banner from that verse with anyone. It's totally open season on Loki and his magical emo eyeliner though.

My best friend does this too but that's because he waits until the series is over so he can watch it in one sitting. I can't force him to watch whatever I like at the time and I know he wouldn't do it to me either. Sometimes that's just life, OP.

I love Mary Sues. I love reading fic where the main character is perfect and everything goes right for them. I hate it in canon though. I fantasize about being added to the show as a character who can't stand the Sue and eventually calls them out on being perfect, and then reading online that people agree with "her". But I love it in fanfic. WTF

So, meme. What's the most pointless piece of fanon or worldbuilding you've ever come up with? For example, I have spent slightly ridiculous amounts of time debating the likely currency systems and calligraphic styles of the world of Avatar: TLA, and the linguistics of Cybertronian.

I'm glad CSJH (K-Pop) flopped again - I got so sick of their fans' arrogance and putting down other groups (which I won't mention here) to claim that CSJH are "OMG QUEEEEEEEENS!" Nobody cared then, nobody cares now.

I'm tired of male Korean idols getting away with everything from hit-and-runs to misogyny.

WHY don't people see that the use of headdresses/faux-Native regalia in music videos and the like is really fucking racist and disgusting? Don't pull the "I'm Native and I don't care/think it's cute!" card on me either.

I feel so disgusted that I'm 125 pounds - fandom has taught me that I have to be 110 or less at my height to look attractive (I'm 5'3/5'4). I have trouble with bloating/constipation and hypoglycemia, so I put on weight but can't lose it. I hate myself and my looks so much... and I hate that I'm so shallow. I would starve myself, but as I live with someone, I wouldn't be able to pull it off.

I'm jealous that Amber from f(x) is praised for her short hair and androgynous looks, while my short hair gets me labeled as a "dyke" or once "a gay boy".

There's a short Critic/Linkara fic (http://taekarado.livejournal.com/21601.html?thread=1638241#t1638241) on the kink meme I read once that I kinda liked--it had Critic topping the other as well as both of them being self-aware of how they're usually written in most slash fics...it was more humor than any actual smut, but if I think of any others I'll be sure to link them too??

Sometimes I wonder if my geek cred will be called into question after I tell people I don't like Firefly or Doctor Who or Harry Potter. I don't hate those series at all. I'm just saying I'm not into them. Yet I have seen way too many of their fans become too super serious against other people who don't love their fandoms as much as they do.

The show has really started to go downhill, I am so disappoint. It was never like, omg Emmy award winning, or anything like that, but it was fun. And refreshing because it was more about the mystery/friendships than romance.

But now it's all about the romance. And the mystery barely gets any attention aside from some ~twist~ tossed in at the end. The books are ridiculous too but at least they're consistent. They're also a LOT darker than the show.

Tbh I started to hate the show after they turned Toby into this sweet, innocent, perfect angel, when in the books Toby molested his stepsister and then killed himself out of guilt. That wasn't the only problem, but it was the start of all this fucking bullshit.

The worst part is that the writers/creators have no fucking clue how much they are ruining this show. They think everything they do is as amazing as fuck.

Cowboys and Aliens wasn't a great movie, but the first ten minutes turned me on so hard I didn't even know what to do with myself. Fistfights, guns, stitches, really well-cut period clothing -- it was like all my kinks in one place. Hnnnngh.

Saw it today. Loved it 'cause it hit my kinks hard (the list you gave and some others). It's not an Oscar movie but I liked it anyway.....I've a developing thing for westerns for a bit now though, and damnit this movie made it worse......

When Craig sank that knife into the guy's thigh, I wished I wasn't there with my mom watching it (we saw it for her b-day today). And him having to hold still w/no painkillers and allow someone to hurt him via the stitches. nnnnnnnngggggggghhhhhhhhh. Loved the clothing too......I totally want fic now for the movie. Slash (Craig/Harrison Ford's characters), gen, femslash if you can work it somehow, I don't care...........I'd like to see Ella explored too.......
