Considering all three of those are boring as shit and center around a fucking irritating main character (One Piece is the worst offender, IMO, I can't fucking stand Luffy), I don't think anyone with decent taste would blame you.

I read a Kingdom Hearts fanfic once (and oddly enough it wasn't bad at all!) but I came out shipping Sora/Leon so hard I never wanted to read Sora/Riku again.

I'm about as un-wanky as a person can get when it comes to fandom stuff. Love what you love, hate what you hate, ship what you ship... I don't care. I get that it's just entertainment. It's not real life. It doesn't matter.

But there are some ships and characters that disgust me so much that I can't help but honestly think that the people who like them have something actually legitimately wrong with them. Like, to the extent that seeing the fangirling makes me honestly want to suggest they go get therapy. And some of things I loathe are very popular, so obviously there aren't that many crazy people wandering around (make your jokes about fandom, but there really aren't) which means there must be something good somewhere in there that I'm not seeing. I just don't get it, though, so seeing this stuff all over the fandom just makes me angry and, depending on the topic, a little bit nauseous because it's awful and why the fuck don't you understand how wrong you are?

Even if I'm right and the things I hate really are as awful as I think they are, enjoying them isn't hurting anybody so it's none of my business. Dwelling on things I hate is completely stupid. I still feel the urge to say vile things and start fandom wars and judge the hell out of otherwise perfectly nice people but I can't, even anonymously, because I'd feel too guilty. I think getting it off my chest could help me let go and get over the bad feelings, but it would only create more bad feelings because it would start arguments and hurt other people who aren't doing anything wrong by enjoying fandom.

TL;DR - Fandom!Secrets doesn't work for me. But I really wish it did.

Jack and Kate, and Sawyer and Juliet only worked as couples when they could bury themselves in a fantasy life and pretend they had no troubles. They fell apart whenever reality intruded and they had to deal with actual problems.

Nothing will ever convince me that J/K and S/J were well written or at all believable or worth my time and interest.

I find that the mods at a certain ♥community♥ are reaaaall falling down on the job. Seriously, I can post something there and have it take a full day to be approved. Meanwhile, another community that's in the same game takes 25 minutes.

I'm not sure if they don't have enough mods on the job or if they just don't care? But either way, it's annoying as all fuck. And you just know for sure that if anyone said anything, they'd be banned from the communities faster than you can say "bullshit".

I love you guys, I love Loki, and I really like Thor/Loki. However, I wish Thor got more attention in fic outside of that pairing. I'd love to see more Thor/Hawkeye, Thor/Captain America, Thor/Iron Man, etc. Instead, I find a lot of Loki/Cap, Loki/Iron Man, etc. Sometimes I think everyone is just a little too obsessed with Loki.

Am I the only person who ships Thor with people other than Loki?

To be more specific, I'm not looking for outright slash. But that sort of "inseparable best friends" relationship, know what I mean? If it's easily interpreted as being totally slashy, that's cool. Just something without amorous physical contact (barring hugs, maybe, IDK).


I was having this discussion with a friend, and we realized it seems tough to find stuff where male characters are written with a very close bond without it being overtly sexual. The return of BNF and others HP fans who left fandom years ago annoys me so much. Posts like "so happened in HP fandom in the last X years?", "rec me the best HP fics from the last".
I guess I'm a fandom puritist and someone who's left shouldn't be able to take a fandom shortcut and just act like they didn't abandon fics and their f-list.
Oh, and I never liked Tom Felton much but after seeing him on Conan O'Brien's and how he handled being confronted with those fanmade Harry/Draco manips of him and Dan, I like him more than ever.

I cannot stand Daft Punk. I absolutely hate them, even though I've pretended to like their music since middle school.

I can't be the only person who feels like this- it seems like all the electronica/techno fans think they are god's gift to the genre, and hold them up as the example of the genre in general, when really they just repeat the same lyrics/melodies/noises over and over again and call it an album and everyone seems to jizz themselves over it.

Sorry to sound callous but god I fucking hate them and too many civil arguments gone bad about them finally pushed me over the edge about it. One or two good songs and a fun gimmick does not a good career make.

Sometimes I like to imagine what internet fandom would have been like if it had existed several decades ago.

If Star Trek managed to make it big as a fandom when you had to rely on zines, can you imagine what a free-for-all it'd be if LJ was around while it was still broadcasting?

Or the huge wank there'd be every time a new Star Wars film was released? I bet you anything there'd have been obsessive Vader fangirls disappointed to find out that he was a) Luke's father and b) had a melty face. Not to mention all those Luke/Leia shippers squicked out by Return of the Jedi.

My favourite to speculate on is what M*A*S*H fandom would've been like, though. The shipwars, the wank every time a character left the show and was replaced, endless political arguments - it would've been beautiful.

Uh, those things all happened. Just at a slower pace due to relying on the mail and not on the internet. Zines, newsletters, local fanclubs, conventions--fandom history is really interesting.
