I borrowed the entire Scott Pilgrim series from the library. 3 have been overdue for awhile and the other 3 will be due on Tuesday. I know I have to bring them back, but I keep forgetting and now I've got about $15 in fines. At this point I could've just bought the app online.

So I have this really cracktastic idea for an X-Men fic, in which Storm and Marvel Girl, having lived together at the mansion for a while now, have had their monthly cycles synch up, and how the guys deal with Shark Week when a weather-goddess and a telepath/TK are both PMSing at the same time. But (a) the time period for the fic would be really, really old, as in pre-Phoenix-Saga and (b) the idea is a little squicktastic and might also play into unfortunate gender stereotypes, so I'm not sure if I should write it. Would anyone read it in the spirit intended (i.e.: not completely serious)?

If you're a damn funny writer, you could pull it off. But you'd have to be fucking good to get past the cliches. (Also, I know some women do have terrible pre-menstrual symptoms, but it's a stupid stereotype. All that happens to me before my period is that I get sore tits and feel a little gloomy. With all the kink memes and everything in fandom, you wouldn't think it was possible, but fandom's view of sex seems so...prudish.

I submitted a secret a while ago about how I was convinced that two characters had sex - nothing else, just sex - and it was immediately assumed that I shipped them (and then there was hate originating from that assumption only).

Nope. Just convinced that they boned. Guess fandom will accept vore, pedo, and non-con fic, but can't seem to fathom the idea that two people could have some consensual, casual sex.

See also: the silly notion that just because a character is in a relationship by the series' end, it's their ONE TWU WUV and they won't ever have any other relationships ever. Do you people live in the real world?

I think that might just be that not everyone has exactly the same definition of 'ship'. I don't think all the pairings I ship are necessarily TWU WUV, you can use the term to refer to two people having casual sex.

You know how some communities have certain free-for-all days dedicated to different things? It's fun cause any member can start a post up, and put their own spin on things. But for the past fucking YEAR this bitch has commandeered every single fucking free-for-all post! She's the most passive aggressive little thing I've ever seen; when someone else manages to make a post before her she whines that she had something special planned out, and makes people feel guilty as shit for not letting her post first. But when no one makes a free-for-all post, she starts to complain that everyone is lazy, and seems to take it really personally. She complains that she can't be "the only one that does all the work around here". The point is, the comm is just for jokes and shit! You post when you want to! If you don't, no one cares! Get some fucking perspective.

She ruined Homestuck for me

I used to be friends with a girl who loved Homestuck (she didn't talk about anything else). We were pretty close. Recently, I had to go through an extremely tough phase of my life (I still haven't quite gotten over it, but I'm feeling better), and I expected this friend to support me, because hey, that's what friends do, right? Wrong. Not only did she completely ignore me, she actually called me an attention whore. I felt like shit, and instead of trying to help me, she insulted me. Keep in mind that I had actually supported her whenever she was feeling down (I literally had to cheer her up one time she was feeling down because she didn't like her fucking haircut), and instead of helping me when I needed it the most, she fucking insulted me.

Now I hate the whole Homestuck fandom because of her. I know I'm being terribly unfair, but I can't help it. Everytime I see something related to Homestuck, I feel angry. The word itself makes me rage. :(

I can sorta relate. Something similar happened to me this year and these people who I had talked to and helped through difficult times conveniently dropped me for some asshole to keep themselves distracted from their own problems. It really pissed me off since I gone out of my way for them, like missed classes to talk to them and spent hours staying with them into the evening so they wouldn't feel lonely. I felt really used until I realized friends like that weren't worth spitting on.

Sucks that she ruined a fandom for you. But once you cut that person out of your life it gets much easier to move on and enjoy the things you used to love. Hope it gets better for you anon.

Oh man I feel like such a bitch for even talking about this but I need advice.

I am new to a fandom that is quite old. The show itself aired in the late 1980s.
I was super surprised and happy to be able to talk with people about the show. Most shows I like don't have an active fandom.
Everyone that I have talked to has been really nice. They are all quite older than me, and I am 27 so I'm not exactly a youngin' myself.

Okay so... The problem started when I wrote a fic and asked for beta help. I am not the most prolific writer out there and rarely get the drive to write a whole story, but I was inspired. I asked for some beta readers to help with my story and two people were kind enough to help me. The only thing is that they are both, um, terrible writers. We are talking unintentional badfic level bad. The thing is that none of the other writers are much better. Not only can I not trust their editorial skills but when I read their fic to leave them some feedback there is literally nothing nice I can say that is genuine.

I feel like the hugest bitch ever. I will continue to be nice because they and everyone else are all so sweet.
Is there anywhere that I can get a good beta? I want actual grammatical critique and not just checking for misspelled words. I can do that on my own....

I'm a member of a group which regularly makes fun of bad porn, especially Rule 34 and occasionally furry porn - not really because it IS Rule 34 or furry, mostly because it's badly written, but so much of the aforementioned are badly written that it's kind of like shooting fish in a barrel and we make jokes about how bad they always are.

I totally want to write some Rule 34 for a couple of things aimed at kids, but I'm so worried someone I know will find it and I feel bad for having made fun of it so much.

I was really happy when Doug and Lindsay said on commentaries that you were supposed to ship Critic and Chick even after the fail date. Not necessarily because they're like my OMG!OTP!!!!11!! or anything, but a physical, fem!dommy/male!subby relationship with a lot of fighting and a bit of affection THAT'S CANON is much more interesting to me than a heteronomative dating couple like the fanboys probably expect. Does that make sense?
