Is anyone here into Dragon Age II? If so, I'd really appreciate some input!

When reading fics written in m!Hawke's POV, do you prefer to see him referred to as Hawke or Garrett? Or do you not care either way?

Hawke! Mostly because nobody ever actually calls him Garrett in the game - I get that it's because you can make Hawke's name whatever, but to me it felt like, either version of Hawke was a "last-name kind of person" in general.

Hawke. First names make me uncomfortable in Game!Fic. Like Mass Effect, I hate it when people give Shephard a first name OR use the default one, because none of those are the name of MY Shephard, lol.

As a general rule, when I write Bioware fanfics, I usually try to just refer to them by their title or last name- like Shepard or Hawke, etc. I think it's more inclusive and it's what everyone calls the character anyway, so it's more natural.

I like seeing him referred to as Hawke and then optional extensive descriptions of his beard so that it's clear that it's Garrett Hawke and not misc Hawke.

I'm so happy F!S seems so much happier and calmer! When I left around a year ago it was pretty cynical. Coming back for a week and looking at the general comment section now is beautiful!

Cat post 2! Today is wildcat day. Like with my post yesterday, the well known cats like tigers, lions and panthers don't get a feature, though I do have a lot of love for them as well. (Though if you think they'd deserve one or that I should do one- just note so in the comments! I'd be happy to.) You also get to see my bias towards cats, which is why each of them gets four pics instead of the usual three.

All these cats are very definitely not domestic in the least, though they can be tamed. There's a huge difference there! A wild animal can be acustomed to being in the presence of humans- that's taming. Domesticating, on the other hand, is altering a species via artifical selection to provide for some human need or want.

...So with that said, let's get straight to it!

I'm taking summer classes, and my sociology professor is black. I'm white. She's also an awesome counselor at the school, who has helped me through a number of situations over the past year or so. So we know each other pretty well, outside of class. It's the first time I've had her as a teacher though.

I have homework that requires me to read a bunch of essays about race and how oppressive white society is to African Americans, and then answer a bunch of questions. And I've gotten most of them, but I cannot answer the last two (race/class discrimination, and negative consequences of interracial marriage) because there is no way to word them without pointing the finger at someone, and I just cannot do it. I'm going to take a deduction on the paper because I don't want to come off looking like a racist douchebag. And I know, I already look like one for getting worked up over this, but I don't know wtf to do...

Has anyone of you found yourselves watching a commercial over and over for no reason? Because I have replayed this commercial over and over for the past few days and the song keeps playing in my mind.

So, on Neopets, there's this glitch where the only Transmorgrification Potions being given out are of the Aisha variety (or so I've heard).

This problem means that there are absolutely no Acara Transmorgrification Potions in trades/shops/auctions - they're beyond unbuyable.

I have a far cheaper Acara morphing potion - should I give it to my pet, zap it, and hope for the best? Or keep redeeming my Faerie Fortune Cookies until I happen upon a FFQ? (I've got about a month's supply)

I was reading a stupid post on tumblr about why women should masturbate for their health that made me mad, and then I started thinking about my sitiation. I literally can not masturbate and I don't know if that's normal or not.

I don't feel anything when I touch myself, not in my vagina or even on my clit. It feels no different than rubbing the crook of my elbow. Objects don't do anything for me either. But I'm very sensitive when other people touch me(i.e. I'm extremely ticklish but I can't tickle myself). If someone else touches me sexually, or even just on my lower belly or thighs, I definitely feel tingly feelings.

I don't care about masturbating, I'm just wondering if this is normal.

In honor of yesterday's biggest fandom pet peeves, let's share some fandom cliches and memes and fanon that we love. :)

A couple off the top of my head:

I love 5+1 fic in every single fandom ever. Can't get enough of it.

I never have and probably never will get tired of the "what if Xander had been dressed up as Darth Vader/Batman/Freddy Kruger/a medieval knight/an alien/whatever instead of a soldier in "Halloween"? fics.

OT3s made of cute canon couple + bff who one half (or both halves) of the couple has mad hoyay/UST with.

That thing where the West Wing fandom collectively decided CJ always calls everyone by wacky nicknames, not just Charlie.

That thing where half The West Wing fandom decided seasons 5-7 were bad fanfic and ignored them, not just in fics but in all characterization discussions as well.

Who gives a fuck what the Avengers lineup was during 1979? Imma just throw a bunch of of my favorite members onto the team and go nuts.

Ditto for the Justice League.

Coulson is alive and no one cares why.

Captain America is totes mystified by the future, yo. What's a hard drive? Does it have something to do with golf?

I think this might be an anime-within-an-anime, or a fan parody.

The clip starts with soldiers on boats, getting ready to land à la the D-Day Omaha Beach landing scene. Many soldiers die when they rush off their boats; many more die before they even manage to step ashore. Despite their comrades' deaths, the surviving soldiers turn their boats over their heads as makeshift shields and continue marching bravely on, doing their best to avoiding the numerous mines and unrelenting enemy fire.

Their goal? An ovum.

Turns out the soldiers are the personification of sperm cells reaching for the ovulated egg.


Does anyone know where this is from? Please tell me I didn't dream this up D:
