What the first anon said. I accidentally wound up following someone who posted a lot of gore [which squicks the hell out of me], but otherwise posted a lot of awesome, awesome stuff. So, I sent a message basically saying 'Hey, sorry to bug you like this but could you please tag the gore stuff? I really love your other posts, and I do have gore filtered on savior but the stuff you don't tag is still getting through, so it would be awesome if you could tag it.'

The person was awesome, and has since tagged their stuff, so it could work out. It's possible that the people you follow don't even realize that they aren't tagging - or don't realize that savior doesn't work without the tags [yes, I've run across people who didn't realize that].

:/ I'm so guilty of this. Part of the problem (for me at least, I'm sure there are other reasons) is that tumblr loads slowly enough for me without having to open every thing I want to reblog in a new tab to add comments when I can just alt+click the reblog button and reblog. Every time I do it I feel guilty, because I know how annoying untagged posts can be - especially if you've tumblrsaviored something.

just fucking unfollow them if it bothers you that much. it doesn't matter if it's a mutual thing. it's your blog, and if you don't want to see it and they bring it up and complain, tell them you didn't want to follow them anymore because of their untagged content.

if they get butthurt over it they're not decent friends and put too much selfworth into a fucking blog and aren't worth following in the first place.

I kinda tend to forget to tag some of my posts, I try my hardest, and I always tag spoilers and if I post a lot from the same thing I try to tag all of it, just in case someone who follows me isn't interested in it. But most of the time I'm on my iPad and it is time consuming to write on it when I'm just quickly reblogging a couple of things.

Then again I got all of 14 followers, and apparently that is quite few compared to the norm, thinking about it maybe those two facts are connected?

Edit: but I wouldn't get mad if anyone messages me to ask if I could tag all my stuff, I probably would get better at doing it too, because I knew someone wants me to.

Which reminds me - does Tumblr Savior just not fucking work for anyone else? It kept blocking random things that I didn't tell it to, so I had to uninstall it and now I'm back to being pissed off by the flood of crap I wanted to avoid in my fandom.

Tumblrites are very...choosy about their tags, I've found.

'I tag what I want' is typically the response to 'don't tag your hate'. I have a feeling it'd be the response to you, too. It strikes me as obnoxious, since anything you tag can be seen on the tags and a lot of people follow and use common tags for things they like and want to keep track of and a lot of people tumblr savior tags for things that squick or trigger them.

It's like those people who go 'I'm only telling the TRUTH. You obviously can't handle me' when they're being as obnoxious as possible. Only a lot of them. All at once.

I tag usually, but the time I really wish people would tag their posts is when it's NSFW stuff. But when I've asked they do so afterwards. Not difficult.

Damn, all the asshats in this thread with the "i do what i want" attitude. That's nice and all and I do that too, but I try to tag my shit. Cause I know not every who follows me likes everything I reblog or post.

I feel you OP. It gets annoying. I follow awesome people who post things I both like and hate, but why should I unfollow them when I like what they DO post? They tag their shit, I'm happy.

Some people are really nice on tumblr and will tag if you ask them, or at least apologize for not tagging if they don't usually do it. Then you got guys like some of the peeps in this thread who are dicks, so you might as well just unfollow them.

You should probably figure out which category your friends fall into, then decide what to do.

Oh God. I have two mutual followers who both spam Homestuck. I mean they are nice people and we share other interests and unfollowing them at this point would be rude... but fuck that Homestuck shit is annoying. It doesn't make sense because 99% of it is inside jokes which makes it that much more annoying to have to see so often.

Tagging is not fucking hard either. You just type the word in the box and your done. I wish people would tag more often, not just for stuff you want to block but it also makes it easier to find stuff you like. If I see something that looks like an interesting show and it's not tag it's so frustrating.

Just use tags. Period.

I'm also a Tumblr n00b (I mean I've had one forever but I literally just started *using* it the other day) and wonder if anyone can help me with a dumb question? I didn't really think about tagging at first until earlier today when I realize all my shit (which is like, ten things right now, not a lot) isn't tagged; is there any way to go back and tag stuff that you've posted? (It's pretty much all reblogs, not sure if that makes a difference)
