I understand the utility of anonymity in a secrets-oriented environment. The ability to post anonymously about intensely personal subjects allows a level of honesty that people might shy away from if it were attached to a discrete handle. Anonymity also allows a great deal of lying, but it isn't worth tossing out the baby with the bathwater.

So before I say the following I want to make clear I'm not talking about stopping anonymous posting in this community. That would be silly. We are all to one extent or the other anonymous here anyway.

What I'm addressing, rather, is the tendency of certain posters in this community to choose to go anonymous when posting criticism or insults of other posters. While it makes sense to do this when arguing from deeply personal information--for the same reason that anonymity allows honesty--the posters I'm talking about often don't do that. They don't even follow the convention of using acronyms to distinguish one anon from another in the thread. They just lob criticism as mean as they can word it and then dash off. I'm not sure what they think they're accomplishing with this besides making themselves feel good.

I have nothing against masturbation but it's generally considered impolite in public. It doesn't hurt anyone but it makes you look like a gross idiot.

I'm saying this while I'm disliked by a few people in this community. This is kind of indicative of my entire point. I'm disliked in part because I have a discrete screen name to which you can attach that dislike. I respect you enough to allow you to form an opinion of me based on past actions. You often don't do the same. Instead you say deeply critical or insulting things while ensuring you can't be held in the least bit accountable.

I suggest instead that, if you are going to be forceful in your criticism of someone, own that opinion. Please have the minimal amount of fortitude it takes to sign up for a fucking Dreamwidth account or post under your own. What you're doing right now is cowardly.

F!S movie night: Women Being Awesome! (Shit Stream regulars, please read!)

Noodles graciously allowed me to replace him this week as host of F!S movie night. (Or, the Shit Stream, as it's called.) Same bat time, but different bat channel. And, different bat channel means I'm running a different sort of show. This is not a Shit Stream. While you may find my choices to be of questionable taste, I'm showing things that I think are interesting, enjoyable or just plain fun and stupid. Oh, and these movies will fit a theme.

This week's theme? WOMEN BEING AWESOME!

First, it's the beloved Hans Christian Andersen story about a girl who travels to the ends of the Earth to find her beloved. It's The Snow Queen! ...er, THE ICE PRINCESS? Well, whatever it's called, the original songs are uh-mazing.

Next, it's Superchick. I could give you a synopsis, but I think the trailer says it better. But, for those who hate clicking links, I'll just say, when she's not working as a frumpy stewardess, she's kicking back and kicking ass as a leather, hot pants wearing chick who's too much woman for just one man.

Then, it's John Waters' bizarre, disgusting and magnificent, Desperate Living. I love this movie and think it's absolutely fabulous. Mink Stole stars as a neurotic housewife who, after instigating murder, goes on the run with her accomplice. The two end up in Mortville, home to the dregs of society and ruled by a maniacal queen. And, from there, well, let's just say, it gets weirder. It's a John Waters style fairy tale.

Warning: Both films feature nudity and sex-- Desperate Living especially.

After which, we'll wing it. I've got a few other films featuring women being awesome. Or, there's always porn. :P

Ever play or watch or read something and you're thinking "well this is going to be dumb and violent, sounds like fun" and then you're surprised to find something a lot deeper than you expected?

Say what you will about Call of Duty, Black Ops is a surprisingly dark story. I recommend Spec Ops: The Line a lot because it's a total deconstruction of the dieudbreaux tacticool manshooter genre (of which Call of Duty is, fairly or unfairly, lumped into) but Black Ops, for what it's worth, sidesteps a good chunk of the criticism the CoD series gets.

A while back, I posted about able of my being not to handle my mom's sickness and toxicity of my home. Thank you to the kind anon who shared a link to Parentification. As well as the _suvivors_ comm on lj. I still haven't mustered the courage to post, but it's a start.

Though, the main reason that wanting to get help scares me, is the possible consequences it could have on my mom. As it is, my mom is mentally fit....Well, as much as she could be anyways. The big problem is that she is physically disabled. She cannot feed herself, wash her etc. We have an aide that works from 7-5. I take care of her from 76pm-8am it my job. My main fear is what might happen to our house etc. I know that I am mentally mess, but act like everything is fine.

We have no one else aside from my grandparents. My grandparents do more harm than good on most days. No friend that could come to help. I'm afraid to that they might find me emotionally unstable to help my mother. Not to mention, I'd need someone to go with me to therapy visit since I'm liable to just run off due to fear. I have good friends, but none of them would have the time to help or live too far.

Also, if I would want to get help who can I go to? My mom has a social worker and nurse, but I'm afraid of telling them of my mental state. Not to mention, they're there for my mom, not me. I've no insurance and maybe 30 bucks to my name. If it helps, I live in the NY Queens area.
