Today the church next door chopped down the gorgeous 100-year-old entwined tree pair that bordered our property by their parking lot. I can't understand why; it was away from the street, not anywhere near anyone else's property except ours, the nearby parking lot is not in use (certainly not that end) as it's for the closed elementary school, and not near power lines, it didn't even hang over the phone lines. So I have to assume it's a personal insult to me, because there was no logical reason to remove it.

To rub salt in the wound they didn't even remove the stump, so every time I walk outside I have to see it, and our house is going to be even more susceptible to lightning (it tends to strike a lot around here) because of the telephone pole right next to us.

Now I have an unobstructed view of the parking lot, the surrounding area is 66% uglier (neighborhood's ugly enough as it is) and shit's all fucked up and everything sucks. I don't need this shit.

So my neighbor across the street is blasting music from his car. It is loud enough to shake the windows at the front part of my house. We called the cops on him yesterday (it was at 7:30), but I don't know if I should call again (or maybe wait until later). I don't mind loud music, but when it shakes the windows of my house and you are across the street it is too fucking loud. Why would you even want music that loud? It sounds distorted as fuck.

Fandom Sims!

I know some of you on here play The Sims with fandom characters. And I am curious about your playing styles! Like, multifandom or not, are there just one fandom family or is the entire neighbourhood filled with them, and so on.

What I usually do is make tons of characters from different fandoms and put them into an empty neighbourhood and then make one OC that I play with. Then I just watch from afar as all the drama and random pairings happen. Usually I make my own little rule that the character I play with can’t have a romantic relationship with the fandom characters and rather get with one of the Townies, so that more crack pairings can happen. My OCs children can get together with (second generation) fandom children though.

Favourite pairings in my current neighbourhood include Loki Laufeysson (Marvel) and Sakura Haruno (Naruto) (who currently have three little pinkhaired children together), and a very dramatic love triangle with Kakashi Hatake (Naruto) wavering between YA!Bran Stark (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones) and Natasha Romanoff (Marvel).)

So I spent so much of my teen years admiring the artwork of others and being jealous, wishing I could do art like they did. It felt like some amazing secret. I tried getting photoshop and a tablet hoping it would make me great (yeah I was naive and stupid). I felt like my art was pathetic and anything I created was a mess (and to rub salt in the wound I had someone on dA tell me that my opinion didn't "count" because my art wasn't good. I felt a lot worse after that).

But....

just last year I started drawing more. One day when my internet was cut I spent the evening doing art practice. Then at my job I would draw a lot because there wasn't much else to do in the break room (and I tried to avoid going out on the floor so I wouldn't be driven to spend.) I used an admittedly controversial practice method , tracing in my art books (then erasing the etchings) to understand the motions. I looked up tutorials and read through them and practiced exercises in my art books I used to find boring. I practiced using my programs til I learned what everything did. and now I'm finally starting to understand things I was struggling with years ago.

so fandom secrets, is there anything you used to have trouble understanding that eventually clicked much later?

(sorry if this seems dumb or whatever...I just wanted to start a positive conversation.)
