23 I could not agree more! I have a friend who is the exact same way. What difference does it make, really? It's the same story, who cares which language it's in? Seriously...it's so dumb.

For the record, I'm more of sub fan, but I'll watch dubs if I feel inclined to.

As long as SOMEONE is talking, I really don't see how it matters, but some people just get ridiculous over it. :/

For me, it largely depends on the series. I can't imagine watching Azumanga Daioh in Japanese since I'm so used to the English, but at the same time I'm far more likely to watch Death Note in Japanese. (Because Light's English voice bugs me. >>;;)

#12 - It's certainly a sentiment that's turned up more than once, and it's probably be worded similarly in various different places. It can be a shame when people avidly acknowledge something positive from one source whilst being unaware of that same message being equally well presented in another*, but ultimately, the message is being spread. It's such a nice idea, so regardless of where people first encounter the words, it's nice to know they're hearing them at all. It's nice to know it's changing people's outlooks for the better. :333

It really is a common theme that's been around the block. If people are whining about who did it first, they obviously haven't gotten out much. If you think about it, it's a large theme in just about every shounen series ever. Even if the words are not said, a lot of the characters end up persevering because they're fighting for the people that believe in them. Trying to stake a claim on it and say such and such did it first is just stupid =/

I'm not sure if you're looking for particular threads/posts or ...? Though in reading the posts/threads I can't say that I recognize the characters. If I wasn't looking at the icons/knew who they were supposed to be I wouldn't connect them to the characters. This is where I admit I can't comment on characters like the von Neumann or Helga or other novel only characters, since the novels have just been brought over to English recently. Which was part of my question, if the players had read the novels (I may be mistaken, perhaps they have read the novels).

Despite the fact that Dietrich is a character that is both mercurial and surrounded by power he builds for himself on the suffering of others I find myself surprised by his interactions with Esther and Radu in particular. Neither Radu nor Esther struck me as coming across particularly weak (even if both are prone to moments of and/or exhibit particular weaknesses) and yet they seem to fold like paper. Which, I also admit, Dietrich is a master manipulator, but part of storytelling is overcoming and fighting against this, where nothing seems to be happening with that at all. The entire cast seems to be stuck in this sort of stagnant RCO ruled state.

There is very little of what makes the audience love these characters showing up in play. Why is Radu a wonderfully tragic an-protagonist? Why is Esther a heroine? Why is Cain more than just evilcrazy? What attempts of humanity does Dietrich go through the motions of? Why is Lilith a tragic mothergoddess? Why does Abel make people like him? How is Seth portrayed as flawless and full of faults? The little quirks seem glossed over in vague fittings to barebones descriptions of the characters.

25. Oh wow, way to call someone a moron when you didn't even read the secret right. The OP didn't generalize and say all Bela fangirls want her to get hooked up with Dean, they said specifically "fangirls that want to see Dean and Bela hook up". Not the same thing.

16. Aww, I'm not really involved the PW fandom (even though I love the series to death), but seeing those sorts of hateful secrets makes me feel a little sad, too. Especially because I've heard about how civil the rest of the fandom seems to be, and how great it is that everyone in it more-or-less gets along. Maybe that's why those more spiteful secrets are, well, posted as secrets, to keep the hate out of the rest of the fandom?

23. *nod* I agree on the subs vs. dubs bit: I just listen to whatever works better/I'm in the mood for, and don't bother to argue it at all. I'm actually a little surprised your friend is arguing in favour of dub actors! The more verbal fans always seem to be the ones who love the seiyuu and think the dub is universally inferior.

26. HiME secret, HiME secret! &heart; That said, Nao completely rocks the house, and yay, a Shiho fan! I like her too, actually, and while I can understand some people disliking her, I personally found her to be an interesting character and pretty funny in her own right. Yeah, she's crazy and a little obsessed, but that's part of her character. But yes, I like her a lot too, so you're not along.

23. I admit I usually fall on the subs side -- the language geek in me prefers the Japanese so I can pick up on the stuff that doesn't translate -- but I totally agree with this secret.

28. Well... They have their similarities. But honestly, I like Thirteen better than Cameron because she doesn't have a thing for House. Canon love interests for House make me nervous, because canon treatment of pairings tend to suck (though honestly I've noticed that in most fandoms).

17. I know what you mean. I tried playing the fourth one, but it was just... not as good. They added so many bells and whistles that the gameplay was no longer any fun. (The same thing happened to Crash Bandicoot after its third game, really. It's a shame; I loved both series as a kid and I want to like the more recent ones, but... no.)
