What are some things, not in canon but in the fandom space itself, that would make you or have made you leave that fandom space? Did you/would you drop the actual media the fandom belongs to as well?

Ship wars. I had enough of that in some old fandoms. I don't need that in my current fandoms. I wouldn't drop the media, but I would drop the fandom.

Me, I dropped out of the Baccano! fandom because it was already fairly small, but the fanfic space (particularly the parts relevant to my interests) was absolutely dominated by this incredibly shitty writer who kept stuffing her fic full of untagged m-preg and other squicks of mine and it was so massively annoying that I never was tempted to read a single fic in that fandom again.

Kind of similar: The way the Transformers fandom is full of untagged mechpreg made me stay away from fic in that fandom as well.

I'm still interested in the canon, but fanfic .... nah, I'd rather not anymore.

Has the fandom gone full Whedon? Yeah, I'm out. Has the Fandom gone full Moffat or anti-Moffat, out again too. Has the fandom gone full SJW or Libertarian? Ding, gone.

Also, if it is full of whump and cuddles on the coach type fic.

I left WTNV fandom because of how hateful the fandom is/was. I eventually stopped listening because the creators seemed to encourage a lot of it.

Dog piling. Once I see some section of the fandom that likes a thing getting harassed by another section of the fandom that thinks the thing they like is "immoral" or "gross" I nope the fuck out of that fandom.

I mean, there're immature fans in every fandom. But if there's enough that they can become gangs it's like... do I even want to participate? Something I do, even in jest, could bring this giant hammer of teenagers with fuck all else to do, and I ain't got time for that shit.

I can live with a lot of shit from the fans, but the creators being idiots...

I also haven't pirated a marvel book since then, so swings and roundabouts I guess

When the fandom largely stops liking the canon. Fix-fic that's better than canon is the minority, and it inspires people to go off on all sorts of weird tangents that have nothing to do with why I got into the show in the first place.

Honestly while a lot of the comments above apply, also just plain disagreeing with a lot of fandom. It's not good for my mental health to constantly be bombarded with fanon treated as canon. (And I'm not talking about interpretations or personal opinion, just flat out 'Steven Universe's blue shirt that he wears every day is so cute on him' obvious fanon contradicting canon.)

People ganging up on someone and attempting to get them to commit suicide. Fortunately the fandoms I'm peripherally in don't do that.

When a piece of fanon that I don't like becomes so popular that it's impossible to get away from. The most common type is when a ship is seen essentially as canon and everyone casually refers to the characters in it as each other's boyfriend/girlfriend/bae or what have you.

I left Heroes fandom because all anyone cared about was hot Sylar/Mohinder slash. Or Claire/HRG (before we knew him as Noah) incest. Or Peter/Claire.

When members (especially BNF) who "were in an accident" or "died" and then return under a new identity...or the truth is revealed because other members begin investigating the "friends" who are posting for said member to let every one know why they aren't on anymore.

It happened A LOT in a small fandom I was in like a decade ago. I thought things like that weren't common, but a friend showed me bigger fandoms that had similar things happen.

What canon pairings that were teased for a while...

So I just watched the 2016 film "Hush" and I don't know if it's just because the actress in it was EXACTLY my type, but I gotta say I'm digging the deaf mute thing in fiction. Having typed "In fiction" two centuries know, it occurs to me now would be a good time to ask for recs if any one has any?

So yeah, what do you consider to be the Sexiest disability portrayed in movies video games books etc, and what is the example that opened your eyes to it? Only half points awarded to people bringing up Barbara Gordon or Matt Murdock, like, and Duh.

I don't know how to make a secret image.

My secret, if I did though, it that I preferred the Stallone version of Judge Dredd to the Karl Urban version.

I like the whole overblow camp and sheer glitziness of the Stallone version. I hate "real" and "gritty" Karl Urban version.

I'm the same with the Dredd comics. I like the overblown semi-comedic stories more than the serious ones. My absolute favorite story is the Crossing Ken Dodd oneshot.

I do wish Stallone had kept his helmet on, or other face obscurer, though. Still prefer it to Urban.

Do you have separate utilities? Are you in a city or country? Do you think you have a good deal? I'm just curious.

I rent with someone who owns the house I'm living in, I pay $600/mo and about $200/mo in utilities/cable/etc. Pretty good deal for my area. Definitely cant find anything in the neighborhood I'm in for this price. I'm on the edge of a moderately sized city in the southeast US.

A character you just can't quit

Anyone else have a character they just can't stop with? You've left the fandom, you stopped watching/reading the source, do not care about canon, but dammit if your love/obsession for this one character just lingers on seemingly forever.

For me that character seems to be Derek Hale. Whyyyyyy. I don't even read fic anymore, but my love for him still goes strong.
