Not really, I got the idea for the thread before I finished reading., I know that's not the secret's point. But what are some scenes you missed the point of?

I apparently missed what is presumably the major plot point in Neil Gaiman's story Murder Mysteries and I'm still not sure how I was supposed to know it. So apparently I missed the point of some scene or another but I'm not sure which one.

Is anyone else watching it? What do you think so far?

I like Stephen King's work and feel like he's had some really great movie adaptations based off his stuff: Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, etc. It seems like we're going through a mini King revival and people are generally into media that feels like it's from that era, you know what I mean? I'm curious to see how it goes.

I saw the first....three eps? I think. Haven't seen anymore sense, kind of forgot it would do the update thing once a week.

I liked it. Like most SK stuff, it's a mixed bag. Some stuff works, some doesn't. I need to catch up - i've kind of lost the thread of it, now.

I'm only two episodes in right now, but I am enjoying it, even if I am sort of watching it with a headtilted 'wtf' expression most of the time.

I do have to agree with the secret maker this week, that the hostility seems a little over the top to me, especially considering it's been revealed that Castle Rock has a pretty chummy relationship with death and disaster to begin with...

I always have a morbid curiosity about how bullies cope with their victims killing themselves. Do they feel remorse, or does their part in it go over their heads?

I think the victims matter first and foremost, but I do always wonder.

I'm done with people saying people on social media are "too happy." First, I don't know who they follow because all I see are posts about Trump and depression and needing to lose weight and looking for jobs. When I see happy posts it's like a fish out of water. Second, why is it anyone's business what someone else posts? And why revel in the fact that they're probably faking it and miserable inside? If anything, that should be a key that we all handle shit differently, not that some of us are more real and others of us "fake it."

My work thinks I know a lot about computers. I know almost nothing about computers. It's just that most of them know even less and they don't realize that all I ever do is look things up on the net and/or figure them out by trial and error.

I super clean the common areas of the house mainly so that none of my housemates will suspect what a ridiculous disorganized mess I am in my own room. I'm a ... clean slob if that makes sense? I mean, everything is clean - I vacuum and dust and do the laundry regularly, so nothing in the room is dirty - but I just never put things AWAY. The only things in drawers are the things I rarely use. Everything else is all random piles of assorted stuff. Towers of papers and books in absolutely no order (I won't even PRETEND to have an arcane system. THERE IS NO SYSTEM.) Glasses? They're on the desk, among the books... are any of them in the cases? Hell naw. To find the shirt I want I toss all the shirts from one corner of the room to the other until I find it. And then because I am insane I iron it, put it on, leave ...

Character naming dilemma

Last night I started working on a new story. I had a pretty good idea already of the personalities of the two main characters, so I just gave them generic placeholder names and started writing. After writing a couple short scenes and jotting down some plot details, I started doing some research to try to come up with actual names for them.

It was quite easy to find names for a few background characters; I was browsing name sites and they just kind of jumped out at me. But the MCs are a bit more difficult. I've found a handful of (first) names that I think work for each of them personality-wise, but either I can't figure out a last name that I feel sounds right with the first, or I have a weird personal association with the name, or something else. And now I'm finding that the placeholder names are kind of growing on me, but they don't fit the naming conventions I was trying to use for story reasons.

What do you guys do in situations like this?

So I got fired from my dream job, and now I feel like an absolute failure. I've been trying to find work again, but I feel like I've been so long out of employment that no one will want me, and I've already been rejected from a ton of places. I know I should be trying harder to find jobs but it's so hard to stay motivated, and I feel like I'm letting everyone down.

I used to feel like I had so much potential and I wasted it all. And now there's nothing left for me, and all my chances have passed me by and it's hard not to want to give up and die.

You always hear "I don't trust the writers to not fuck up xyz" (the handling of a particular storyline, a certain relationship, whatever) but are there any writers you DO trust? Where things might seem a little crazy/weird/crappy, but you have confidence in the writers and know that it eventually will make sense/not be awful?

I know probably no one will see this and that's ok but I just needed to vent.

I have a horrible time sleeping and usually only get about 1-2 hours of sleep before work on my early days (luckily I only have to get up early 3 days a week so I get a decent amount on the other days). Last night I attempted to go bed early and actually managed to get about 5 hours, but for some reason today I feel worse than when I get 1 or 2. So I'm just completely exhausted and feel like crap and I'm getting really pissed off over things that would usually be annoying but not a huge deal, and I kind of just want to punch something.

I just want to go home and crawl in bed but unfortunately my early days are also long days and it's going to be like 10 more hours before I can do that. :(
