Agreed. Though I actually quite like 6. He has some dreadful writing (Timelash was the first serial I watched for him, and it did nearly put me off), but I really enjoyed the likes of 'Trial of a Time Lord' and 'Mark of the Rani'.

I didn't really like either 10 or 11. 10 was very histrionic, and 11 felt very unsubstantial at times.

He was great when paired with Donna (or Wilf, but that may have been more about his characterization by that point) but the rest of the time just OK.

I think classism is a longer running and bigger problem than racism in this country. I also think that the class divide is what drives racism here. We have lots of very, *very* poor areas that have been ignored by the government for decades. People without hope or a future look for someone to blame and are an easy target for people like Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson.

Bonus unpopular opinion: That kind of poverty driven prejudice is pan-humanity and not just a 'white' thing. It's just happening in a majority white country on this occasion.

I think the problem with this argument is that it ignores the long history of anti-immigration and racist politics in the UK (not to mention the broad question of the legacy of empire which I think absolutely has to be addressed). That's not to say that classism isn't also a massively significant issue. And I think it's probably true that economic factors and the failures of the political mainstream have exacerbated the problem. But they didn't cause it. Peter Griffiths and Enoch Powell were already Conservative politicians in the 1960s after all.

Isn't it typically the *very* poor areas where grooming gangs operate and the police do nothing for fear of being seen as racist? But hey, those towns have always been shitholes, and those dumb sluts weren't going to amount to anything anyway, right?

Yeah, I'd say you've got a serious classism problem in your country. Way bigger than your racism problem.

I wish US Americans would stop trying to push their own country's racial issues into discussions of diversity in non-American fandoms. Not every country's biggest minority is black people. In some countries, media representation of, for example, middle eastern people is more important.

I also think black Americans should stop trying to retroactively claim historical figures as black when they weren't.

Also, the concept of "person of color" really isn't helpful when it gets to talking about racism in pretty much the entire rest of the world. Either becaues both sides would fall under the category, or because the groups facing racial discrimination would consider themselves white.

I wish non-Americans would stop acting like they're being oppressed by US imperialism whenever someone wants to talk about media's diversity problem as it applies to black people.

Completely agree. Americans of all colors seem to find it hard to believe that other countries are different and do not have identical issues.

They seem to particularly like pointing the finger at Britain, presumably in an attempt to blame the hideous state of their country on someone elsee.

I like the standard fantasy setting and tropes a lot. I like variety in settings too. But I like the original. I never get tired of it. The one thing I'd pay good money for is all the original tropes but reversed with women in the male roles and men in the women roles (of course with some variety thrown in and gay relationships as a plus). Mostly because I never wanted to be the princess. I always wanted to be the hero with the sword, fighting the dragon and saving the day and rescuing the boy.

The first fight scene in Highlander, in the parking garage at Madison Square Garden is really horribly choreographed and kind of ridiculous.

Purple grape juice tastes better than white grape juice.

It's probably not that unpopular of an opinion but I had someone tell me that "everyone" thinks the white grape juice is better like I had just said something ridiculous.

I hate all kinds of grape juice. And it really annoys me that my church refuses to use wine for communion.

I'm completely in favor of medical marijuana. But I'm not sure I'm in favor of recreational marijuana. Decriminalizing to a certain extent yes because I don't think people should go to prison for smoking marijuana or even growing it or selling. But making it completely legal? I don't think I'm in favor of that.
