One of the Harry Potter fics I remember fondly to this day was not great writing, on the simple premise of What If My Friends And I Went To Hogwarts, but the author had so much fun with it, and it sounded like a great little group of friends to be a part of. (I don't remember the author's name or anything, but it was fun to read.)
