I haven’t even run into “yume shipping” more than a couple of times, which makes me feel even older.

(My personal bugbear in fanfiction terms is that “self-insert” means author-insert and not reader-insert.)

I was gonna say Dispatch is 1): really well-written and 2): everything wrong with today's superhero stories.

Then chapter 3 finally cut back on all the bits where a character makes a sarcastic joke to avoid having to show emotion. I still don't like this level of violence and despair in a superhero story, but at least it's less irritating now.

The overcommercialization of a movie or TV show that rolls out every year or two is so tiresome. Right now, it's Wicked. Every fucking where you look, you see yet another brand that has a collab with Wicked. Goddamn Pilsbury cinnamon rolls have some little blurb on them about Wicked. This also happened with Barbie, Frozen, Baby Yoda, Star Wars in general, Marvel, Shrek.....it's honestly so tiresome to me. I get it, capitalism, people like things, etc etc etc but I just get so tired of seeing it. It makes me sick of these movies before they are even released sometimes.

I wish people would stop calling this game “Minecraft super difficult!”, not only because it scares potential players away, but also because I just… don’t think it’s true?

Yes, it’s more in-depth than minecraft, it has a larger focus in resource gathering, and it’s more grounded. But nothing of it feels forced or impossible, it’s pretty intuitive when showing you steps and has a lot of optional “hand-holding” as well as non-punishing customization. Believe me, if I can play it, then it’s really not THAT hard.

I don’t mind it being compared to Minecraft, it’s very inspired by it. Just sad that this is what the game is only known.

I have done a ton of free fandom work over the years. There's no 'it's only fandom' about it to me: when I volunteer for something, I have made a commitment and promise to other people. If I say I'll be there, I'll be there.

But that said... the amount of bitching and moaning from whiny, entitled fans that take fellow fans' effort for granted means that I commit to less and less things now.

Bonus: it's always the middle aged fans crying about how fandom isn't the 90s any more that are the worst

When I was a kid, I sometimes had trouble distinguishing between what was real and what only existed on TV. On one memorable occasion I pitched a fit that the doctor had to actually touch me to do my yearly physical because why couldn’t he just use a tricorder.

...as an adult, I am still somehow disappointed that I have to have many and varied screenings for everything, each of which requires a separate appointment with a different specialist and yet another copay instead of just having this thing waved at me.

The real world has betrayed the expectations I was given as a child with regard to health care, lol
