I am so fucking sick of the PC police jumping on anyone who says that whites (or straight people) have discrimmination, too.

This girl is OBESE! Let's say it out loud. She's fucking obese. I admire her for being comfortable in her own skin, but let's not hold her up as a role model for young women, any more than we should hold up anorexic models or Lindsay Lohan. Diabetes, heart disease, infertility, strokes...obesity is a big problem, and this girl needs to get healthy. It's not about being a size two. It's not about beauty. It's about health. I'm sick and fucking tired of paying higher insurance rates and higher taxes to pay for the health care of dumbasses who can't put down the cigarettes, the booze, the drugs or the Twinkies.

And she IS being given more latitude from criticism because she's black. FACT. People are saying how awesome she is about not caring what people think about her size. On one hand, she shouldn't care what other people think. On the other hand, being massively, morbidly obese is nothing to be proud of. All you have to do is look at the amount of shit written and said about Kirstie Alley, Kate Winslet, and other white actresses, compared to what is said about this girl, or Queen Latifah, Monique, etc...to know that there is a double standard. To me, that is not just unfair to white women, but to black! Are we saying that black women are incapable of recognizing that they are fat, unhealthy and ruining their future health?

How insulting!

I applaud this girl being strong and happy in her own skin. I shudder to think of anyone holding her up as a role model for young women.

And I don't give a fuck if the PC whiners like that or not.

I actually was confused at people yelling at the anon of the first comment, because to me it sounded like they were saying "Hollywood doesn't call her on her size because she's black, that's racism" and everyone being like STFU WHITEY.

Now I see that the other interpretation of that comment makes more sense. I think I misinterpreted because it's sort of a double-negative, like "nobody should be judged by their size but if everyone is then everyone should be because doing otherwise implies problematic assumptions" and that's way too long a thought to be conveyed by a dumb anon comment.

It's like when people ask me "well then should women be drafted?" and I'm like, well no because NOBODY should, but...

That's one of the most blanket, ignorant statements I've ever had the not-pleasure of reading.

You should try telling that to any of the Irish who were in the U.S from the 1860's to the 1930's who regularly saw signs in factory windows that said 'NINA' (No Irish Need Apply) whenever they tried to get some sort of job to support their families. Oh, and that strange little thing that occured in the late 1930's and early 1940's called the Holocaust? Apparently, that doesn't count either (since I'm assuming you are including Europeans in your definiton of 'white').

NotIrish/Jewish!Anon agrees that there is no such thing as 'reverse racism,' but making blatantly wrong generalizations such as "whites have never experienced racism EVAR" is just as damaging.

Also, in before someone cries 'racist!'-- this anon is perfectly aware of the crimes and racism committed against African Americans and is a staunch defender against said transgressions.
