Please Help Me Identify This Movie

Okay, so I've tried googling the premise of this movie for like the past two days and for some reason I still haven't been able to find it even though the situation is unique enough that I would think it wouldn't be too hard to locate.

I'm pretty sure I watched this movie like ten times when I was a kid and if had to guess, I would say it came out in the late 90s or maybe the early 2000s. It was about this man who somehow comes across a guy who is an alien. I'm pretty sure the alien was very human-like. They began to live together and there were whacky shenannagins happening, and the guy was kind of annoyed by the alien's presence but in the end he realizes how much he cares for his alien friend when he has to rescue him from being dissected by the government. Looking back on it, they were probably my first slash ship. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Am I the only one who has noticed that there's this huge consensus in fandom that anything and anyone not liberal is evil and should be squashed like a bug? I don't care if people are liberal, but stop assuming everyone who disagrees with you has evil ulterior motives. Not every conservative is Rush Limbaugh.

it makes me roll my eyes a bit because one of the things about being older is that you realize people's political views are nuanced and bipartisanship actually fucking matters

but on the other hand the world o' politics can be extremely frustrating for young american liberals

Bones was one of my favorite parts of the first film, and while I think Karl Urban is still doing a commendable job with the role, he didn't have much to play with this time around. They need to calm it down with the metaphors.

You know how there are those long romance fics with periodic sex scenes? I wish there were more fics like that, except with the sex scenes replaced with fetish scenes.

Like, just imagine. Two dudes slowly fall in love. Eventually, things start to get heated - and they start peeing on each other. Every time. No sex. Just pee.

I watch Supernatural. I enjoy it. It makes me irrationally angry when someone considers it good writing, though. It's one of the worst written shows I've ever seen. Entertaining? Yes. Amusing? Yes. Particularly fun if you're feeling sassy and wanna do some MST3Kesque callouts with friends? TOALLY.

Well written, though? Like, we get it, all the characters have daddy issues...and we will never stop hearing about them. When something bad happens, it's pretty much always because one of our protagonists has done something monumentally stupid...AGAIN.

There was a whole episode where everyone kept saying, "Well, never being born isn't as bad as dying," and no one questioned it! Not ONE PERSON even thought to say, "Hey, maybe erasing someone's entire existence would be worse than if their life was shortened." I mean, I get it if it's like, "Oh we have to set the timeline right for whatever reason," but just the random, "Of course we all agree that having your existence erased is so much better than death." WTF?

However, the fanfiction for this show is in-fucking-credible. And I'm unhealthily addicted to Dean/Cas fic. Some of it is surprisingly well written. I particularly enjoy epic alternate takes on the apocalypse. About 90% are way better than the manpainocalypse of a bunch of dudes in a field talking about their feelings that was the show's canon.

Also, just the amount of fic. This is one of the reasons I wish to remain anonymous in this rant. Those are some dedicated fucking fans. Hats off, guys. Sorry, I'm shitting all over your show, but I had to get that out.

Oh, yeah, seriously. I loved the show, it was hilarious and scary and now and then it could be clever, but it had never been some pinnacle of good writing. And that's okay! Things can be fun and worthwhile without being brilliant; as a scifi/fantasy fan, lord knows I'm in no position to sneer.

I am! Werewolves, werewolves, everywhere, and I've been enjoying every minute of it. It'll also be the first show in awhile that I've followed in-progress instead of picking it up long after it's over, so I'm kind of jazzed to be a part of the weekly fandom "omg this thing just happened omg" excitement you get with that kind of thing.

Spoilers for recent Bleach chapters.

The more time that goes on the more I hate him, but it seems like all the people where I hang out absolutely love him.

He blatantly, habitually lies to people in ways that are actually detrimental to their health, neglects his children in important ways, and abandons his duties repeatedly. A couple quippy (I think stupid) remarks don't erase or negate those kinds of character flaws.

I don't care if people like him, but I am so sick of hearing about how "flawless", "awesome" and "badass" he is without any sort of critique on his behavior.

I want to smack any Dangan Ronpa fan on Tumblr who insists on tagging their Gundam Tanaka crap as just "Gundam," because it's clogging up the tag that's supposed to be for giant robots and their pilots, not some dippy video game character only a few people give a crap about. The Gundam fandom has asked them politely several times over to knock it off, but they either ignore the requests or are raging douchebags in return. I'm getting sick of having to add a bazillion variants to my Tumblr Savior blacklist just to get rid of all of them.

Dear Tumblr Hannibal fandom,

Your social anxiety, general anxiety, potential sociopathy, your therapist's assessment that you have "supernatural empathy" does not make you like Will Graham.

There is a deep, deep, DEEP divide between your (as Hannibal Lecter would put it) "garden variety neuro[sis]" and the stress, strain, and trauma that comes from witnessing the horrors that people inflict on each other, and understanding it.

My advice to you: stop. Grow up. Get some goddamn perspective, and have some respect. While Will Graham is a fictional character, he is not heavily fictionalized. He represents a very realistic section of modern law enforcement culture, and you equating your teenage chemical imbalances to the work that these people do every goddamn day is frustrating.

Thinking that your personality/mental disorder gives you special insight on someone who has repeatedly been subjected to psychological and physical trauma is dismaying.

This is not to say that I do not understand your need to reach out and connect to someone/something in a safe and healthy manner. This is not to say that I am trying to dismiss your personal struggles with mental health and daily living.

This is to say: stop trivializing the kinds of experiences that others go through. Respect that while you may share some similarities with a character due to your personality, they have gone through things you can't even imagine being able to identify with.

It really irks me when out of nowhere people start complaining that they want the Attitude Era back or when people say, "Wrestling's fake". I already know that, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it like I would any other show. I check ewrestlingnews everyday so that I can know what's to come and what's planned/rumored to happen.

The Attitude Era is probably not going to happen again. Not because of the regulations on t.v. now or how Vince/HHH are going to be running the company, but because some things just can't be duplicated and it was just that, an era/part in time that has already lived its time.

I hate how...angry fandom is sometimes. Whether it's in-fighting or fandoms versus fandoms or trend-hating or even just individual person hating--it's exhausting. I know it's the name of the game, and maybe I'm just getting a bit jaded in my old age, but it seems to me that if everyone would just sit back for a second and realize they're talking to a real human being with real feelings on the other side of the computer screen, we'd all be a lot better off.
