Probably a Trek captain. Because Trek is very socialist and I'm very socialist. Probably Picard even though I find TNG the least interesting of the series, Picard is the captain I'd most like to be like.

What is everyone doing?

I'm going to try to make a Lemon Magic Cake (that an anon helped my figure out alternate ingredient amounts for). Hopefully it turns out delicious. Other than that, I am probably going to go Pokemon hunting with my sisters late tonight. It is actually only around 90 degrees out right now, so it should be pretty cool tonight. Perfect walking weather.

A/B/O recs?

I stopped reading fic for a few years, and then holy shit, A/B/O was everywhere. There are things I should like about it, the power dynamics and the bonding and maybe the worldbuilding, but the few fics I've tried have felt shallowly built and shallowly characterized.

Can anyone give me any recs? I'm not huge on self-lubricating asses (and even less big on mpreg), but I'm willing to give it a try anyway if it's in a fic you think is well written. I mostly read HP and Supernatural fic these days, but I'm familiar with the extended Marvel and DC universes--and, again, I'm willing to try any fandom if it's well written. Bonus points if you've got any fic with ladies in it.

One complaint I keep hearing about younger people, specifically people my own age (early twenties) is that we're spoiled and entitled because we all got trophies for participating in things.

I would guess there are a lot of people in their 20s here. Is this actually an experience people have had?

I've never gotten a trophy for anything at all, so I find this criticism kind of annoying if it's aimed at me - well, aimed at people my age, but sometimes in writing, they like to act like they're talking to YOU the individual, and they already know all about you and could practically write your biography.

#6 has me wondering. Does slash fandom have a lot more dark fics, or a lot darker fics, than femslash fandom? Generally speaking.

I find it to be true esp w/r/t noncon and dubcon which seem to be a staple in everything where two guys exist to be slashed, but what are your experiences?

Vent your irritation about fanartists beautifying fictional characters to extremes, making them thinner, younger, sexier, etc, in their fanart or taking away aspects of their appearance that are part of their character if they're not as conventionally attractive (like grey hair, or big noses or forehead lines or bellies).

Starting this at my next weekend and on one hand I can't wait but I don't want to go in with unrealistic expectations. I just want something that will make the stress and frustration and "I can't do this" feeling to go away or be lessened at work. Especially when I KNOW I can do it and the things that seem like huge roadblocks are just speedbumps. It just doesn't feel that way right now.

It requires its users use a smartphone responsibly, which is something I have yet to see anyone master after nine years.

For the record, I like the concept of exploring the neighborhood, but holy shit there are some dumb ass people out there. I thought it was bad enough when people drove and did Facebook at the same time. Now they gotta catch 'em all too? Even at the risk of their safety, in car or on foot? Either the app/game makers need to rethink some things, or it's time to require a license to own a damn smartphone. Or something. Getting tired of this shit.
