I never know how to feel about fan art that is well-drawn, but looks NOTHING like the actual characters. There's this one artist in the Voltron fandom who draws like that, and I'm always confused when her art crosses my dash because for a few seconds I always think it much be art for a show I haven't seen. It's only the clothes that let me figure out who the characters are supposed to be.

Does it count as 'bad' art if you literally can't tell who the characters are?

I would say yes. Art is meant to convey an idea or express an emotion. Bad art can be skillfully made, and skillfully made art can be bad.

There's an artist like this in my fandom too, they're technically good at drawing, but if they didn't label their work/say who it was supposed to be, I would never be able to guess. Their style is very generic and their faces all look the same. The really unfortunate thing about that is they're constantly bitching about how no one ever reblogs their work, AND they want to charge money for custom work. IMO, yes, if you can't tell which character you're even looking at, it's bad art.

I am going to my sister's house tomorrow. We are going to have pasta, homemade bread, and wine. And then play video games. :P And Sunday I am making brownies for work! Other than that, playing tons of Overwatch to try and get more skins.

KINDLE FIRE: I get so close and then convinve myself I don't need it. And then, as soon as I'm away from a computer, I remember I'd probably read more if I had a kindle.

SKATEBOARD PARTS: I have a deck, but the 22-year-old Wal-Mart wheels have long since eroded away. I've been watching a lot of skateboarding videos and really want to try again, so I have new wheels, a skate-tool and speed cream for my bearings sitting in my Amazon cart. But, I mean, I could barely roll down a gentle slope and couldn't cruise around at all when I was 12. Now I'm 34 and it seems like a waste of money nust to practice skating around my garage because I'm too wimpy to even go into my shared driveway, let alone a skate park.

I really think this must be what a midlife crisis looks like, except I'd like to live past 68 (maybe).

What do you use the most for fandoms?

I have a very old tablet that needs to stay plugged in or it shuts down that I use for Tumblr. It's pretty much the only thing I use it for. Well, that and reading fic/browsing ao3.

For F!S and actual posting and communicating I use the old desktop. That was purchased for gaming but now is sadly underused.

I'd love to get a laptop or a 2-in-1 tablet deal, but it's not in the budget right now.

SORRY FOR LATE - got held up 45 minutes at work dealing with someone really unpleasant, left hangry and drove straight to pizza and ate a bunch of it, came back and really wanted a shower, and then remembered that I needed to close the poll. 0_0

anyway the winner is The Iron Heel by Jack London. This will be our book for March!
