...why do you think anybody who ships something cares whether other people think it's problematic?

A ship generally finds and grabs a person. If some critic thinks there's something "wrong" with it...I...don't...care.

There are ships that gross me out, but I keep my mouth shut, because whining about some "problematic" ship adds zero value to fandom.

As for the secret, part of the reason I never even bothered with Brotherhood or the manga was that the two of them allegedly were far less intense than the 03 anime, haha.

Please try not to feel bad about not choosing another series instead. Nobody can mind-read or see the future. There's no way you could have known JK's views, and now that they're out they still can't take away the good her books did for you.

(This is why I hate when people brag about how they "knew it" whenever someone famous turns out like... this. No you didn't, nobody did. You just didn't like her and now you have a good excuse for it.)
