I agree. It takes the pro-cop bias and whitewashing of police action to a completely different level than other cop shows. This is always an issue with procedurals, but Blue Bloods is just the absolute worst. My mom loves the show, but I couldn't make it through more than a couple episodes with her.

Huh. I only remember the "not gay enough" backlash (i.e., all the "it doesn't count as representation if you just announce it retroactively X years later without having made any effort to actually present it in your books at the time" stuff).

Which, IIRC, kind of raised a few eyebrows at the time as to the performative nature of her allyship, so...

It is possible to get it right on one issue and be very wrong on another. It is possible to not be homophobic while also being transphobic. People are complicated. But JKR is transphobic and she refuses to even listen to trans people and actually learn. It would be one thing if she said transphobic stuff but then listened to criticism and understood why she was wrong and changed. But she keeps insisting her transphobic perspective is right and keeps on saying transphobic things over and over again, even after being called out.

I remember rolling my eyes when Dumbledore "came out". I thought Rowling was just another mindless celeb bot, who "believed" whatever was trendy at the moment. I was wrong.

She's a woman of principle, who's standing up for women's rights with grace and dignity. No matter how vile the abuse is from the trans activists, she's standing her ground. What an inspiration!

Yes, there are biological differences between men and women - sex is real.
Trans women are NOT biological women.
Biological women should be called women, nothing more, nothing less.
Trans-women should NOT compete with biological women. Would you put a trans woman and a biological woman in the same boxing ring?

There's nothing radical about pointing these out, no matter what the cult-like activists say.

The few independent thinkers here, who think with their own brains instead of following the herd, listen to an actual trans-person telling how hard some activists have made his life. See the human beings who are actually hurt by the bullying and abuse. :(

I'm reminded of my old theatre teacher who spoke to us so boldly and bravely about how gay people deserve respect, only then to speak about bi people are whores and should be punished. Some people will pick and choose who they treat as human beings, and who they want to see suffer. It's the "who they want to see suffer" part that I judge people by. Wanting a marginalized group of people to suffer is still abhorrent.

same! I also think that she's not a bad person. I actually sided with that anon who helped women shelter that didn't accept not transitioned trance people.
JKR is also wrong as she's a celebrity and should take care of what she writes, especially as she has no idea about trance people and issues they face.
I don't know any trance people online/offline. I just watched some vblogers, read some Wiki and such, and I think trance people don't need JKR twiting about how dangerous they are. She's not running for a Bible Belt governor, why'd she even write on this topic? Where were her PR people?

Ouch--this hits close to home. I've been in your position and, in my opinion, there's little you can do aside from keeping criticism constructive.

It doesn't feel good to see other people fail, especially out of ignorance, but we can't always control their situation or adequately protect them.

Who knows? Maybe--if the statement is delivered gently enough--saying her book needs serious improvement might be a benefit to her, even if it hurts her feelings in the short term.
