eh, it happens. It hurts, and it's confusing, but you'll get over it after a while. I started to pull away at about 13~ when I realized that while fandom may seem more accepting and tolerant on the surface, it's just a different kind of clique, that can be just as discriminatory and petty as groups in rl. Whatever your reason for drifting off, trust me, it's not as big of a loss as you think it is.

Instead of just sharing this here, I really think you should share this with the author! Even anonymously. Embarking on the creation of your own work, rather than fanwork, can be really scary and it's easy to get discouraged. Especially since it's so much harder to get recognition outside of fandom.

I have a lot of respect for the fact that you would follow this person's work outside of fandom. There are a lot of people out there who don't see fanwork for what it is: blood, sweat and tears on the behalf of creators. It's as if an artist/writer is suddenly invalid if they don't create the right kind of work anymore.

They used to air episodes on a local station around five in the morning on Saturdays. Nobody understood why I'd get up at that godawful time to watch it. :)

Oh, I know how that feels, but the fact that it's noncanon did register with me properly, so I guess I disassociated canon!Leo from that Leo.

Actually, when I'm highly aware that it's noncanon, it really rang true for me that SOME person (definitely not Leo, but some random person in that sort of position) might have that kind of reaction and act that way given the circumstances of 9/11, then realize how horrible he has been acting and repent and apologize.

I've never understood what use it serves to keep on refusing to forgive someone after they realize how horrible and wrong their thought processes or prejudices were. I mean, yeah it was bad that they had those thoughts, but if they're already stuck with their actions, isn't it admirable that they admitted they were wrong instead of refusing to open their mind? I think that for SOME person (not Leo!) it was a really interesting moment and the follow-up when he realizes how wrong he was was really resonant too. Given how close after 9/11 that scene was set, I was actually impressed.

Of course, once again, this is all assuming it was just SOME person, not Leo. Never Leo. Never, ever, EVER Leo. Not in a million years.

RD's certainly my least favourite of the mane 6 even if I don't exactly HATE her (though there are times I've been pretty damn ticked at her like in the pet episode). But I'm slightly confused at this secret (specifically the 'scapegoat' part. Is it that you don't care for the show at all and like to use RD as an excuse and not admit to the other things you dislike (or maybe you're just generally unsure of what you don't like about the show and simply cite RD as a reason?)

(Just genuinely curious).
