I've been really amazed at how much following this movie has at tumblr/the fandom-related pocket of the internet in general.

That said, it looks boring to me, so I'm not gonna see it. But I already know that giant robots and monsters aren't my thing, so why did you see it OP...

Eh, I'm the kind myself who doesn't appreciate action movies because most of the time it's just stuff exploding left and right without any sort of context that would make me care.

But Pacific Rim was hella fun! It's not a flawless story but the fight scenes were glorious A+ would watch again. I like how shit kept breaking down and even their cockpits weren't safe from direct attacks. Made it that much more exciting.

I'm definitely not head-over-heels in love with this movie like it seems most people are. It was okay, it was fun for an afternoon, but that's about it. I can definitely see where you're coming from.

I'll be honest, I don't get the hype about this movie. I love it, but I love it for the same reason I love Stonehenge Apocalypse - it's just so hilariously bad.

I watched it with a couple of friends and after the movie we spend almost two hours discussing and making fun of all the plotholes and cheesy/ridiculous dialogue. It was the most fun movie night we had in ages and I completely love the movie for that, but I really don't get the way the internet gushes about Pacific Rim. You'd think it was the greatest movie to ever grace the big screen from the way people go on and on about it, instead of littered with plotholes big enough for the Coca Cola truck to do U-turns in.

That said, the girl that played the young Mako was terrific. I really hope that she can be nominated for some kind of award for her performance, because damn.

No, I didn't like it, there was ABSOLUTELY nothing special about this. It was just a boring mess of explosions.

I actually thought it was boring because there weren't enough explosions - I mean, what was that huge, robot-and-monster-less section in the middle? You're telling me they couldn't have cut that down at all?

It wasn't that great of a film, tbh. I found the lead to be the equivalent of a cold bowl of oatmeal and I had no emotional investment in him whatsoever.

That said, the supporting cast of characters were excellent and Idris Elda acted well enough to keep everyone else afloat.

Still, it needed more Mako, Newt, and Russian pilots.

I liked it but it would have been WAY better as a television series. The world building was too epic to be contained in two hours and change. I wanted more face time with the pilots and scientists.

I don't understand why you went if you don't like movies that are just a mess of explosions? I don't like movies like that and it was clear from the trailers that's what it was.

If I made a secret about this movie, it would be that the threads in F!S have opened my mind to this movie and I'm going to watch it when it's out on DVD.
