In fiction, people faint from surprise or vomit from disgust all the time. Neither has ever happened to me, and I wouldn't consider myself to have a particularly strong constitution in general. What experience have people had with this?

Apologies for not knowing how to label the trigger warning, I can't think straight right now.

So I've learned recently that I'm sensitive to flickering lights-- a bad fluorescent bulb in the grocery store made me feel dizzy and nauseous.

This kind of worried me for reasons of my own. I looked up online today, and figured out I could either just have flicker vertigo or photosensititve epilepsy.

I figured that I needed to know the difference (again, for reasons of my own that I don't want to explain), so I found a video on youtube that could possibly trigger discomfort or seizures in photosensitive people.

So I thought I'd run a test. If I felt kind of shitty and uncomfortable watching it, I probably had flicker vertigo and it wasn't a problem. This was kind of my assumption going in, and nothing would happen to me.

I was so fucking wrong. I had a fucking seizure, and now I feel so fucking stupid and angry at myself.

I'm kind of freaked out. I'm okay now, a little fucked up and woozy and headachey. It happened like 2 hours ago, so I'm a lot better than I was.

Should I tell my roommate, just so that someone else knows what happened to me? I'm tempted to just sit on the information. I mean, it's not gonna happen again unless I go watch another seizure video like a dumbfuck, and I don't want to explain why it happened.

Holy shit I am so stupid and irresponsible with myself. I'm sort of glad I know, because it's a piece of valuable information about myself, but it was such a goddamn dumb way to find out.

Where's the love, people?

I miss being part of a large fandom where people got excited about things. I thought that's what fandom meant in the first place.

Live-action/books v. comics/manga (and a roundabout fic request)

I don't know what it is, but for some reason I have a super-hard time getting into fanfic for comics/cartoon/manga etc. I guess it's like, when I read, I see real people, and with live-action source material, I've got a real person. With books, I can picture anyone I want. But something about having the partial picture that other sources provide just messes with my mental images.

Does anyone else have this problem?

And can anyone rec me some good fic from live-action sources (not really feeling books right now)? No bandom/RPF.

So, I found a black growth on my vulva. Obviously I was very worried. It is sort of shiny (not like a mirror but...you know), not painful, doesn't itch, or bleed. It looks like a black mole. It is most definitely not an STD.

I went to the gyno, she took one look, and was like, "Nothing to worry about. These are really common actually." But I am still worried. I can't find anything else on these (which is weird if they were common). Anyone ever had this happen before?

Worried about fanfiction and SOPA/PIPA/TPP

A few days ago I found this picture/news on openmedia.org:

The idea that TPP/SOPA/PIPA can change the copyright laws, so that even fanfiction for fandoms with "outdated copyright" becomes ileegal, maturally made me quite anxious about the future of fanfiction, fan activity and Internet freedom in general.

I really hope this does not happen. If anybody else wants to sign the petition against Internet censorship, just follow the link below.
