I'm trying to write a literature review for my research methods class and I'm having the most horrible time trying to get my thoughts into some sort of order. Utterly fried over this insane piece of garbage and miserable, I just want to crawl into some quiet corner and cry. Ugh.

I found out the other day that someone had a similar idea in a fandom to mine -which I did a drawing for earlier in the month-, right down to the selection of characters (minus one I'd planned to use). I'm not *active* in this particular fandom (in that I follow other fans and read fan fic), so I'm not on the up & up of what goes on and all, but upon discovering this, I felt sick to my stomach and now I'm anxious about doing anything further with my take, for fear of being accused of idea theft. And I swear, I had no idea someone else was doing something with the idea, too.

I feel like I should continue on with my take, but I really don't want to be on the backdraft side should someone accuse me of theft, waughhhh.

I want to write meta for a pairing in my fandom but there's one user who is unbelievably controlling over what is posted about one of the characters. My meta is for a canonical pairing that she keeps insisting is "unhealthy" and "forced" and "not really canon" that she dislikes. Instead, she's a big supporter of ANOTHER canon ship with this character that I personally despise the depiction of.

I really want to write the meta, though, because I think it'll stimulate some good discussion, but the thought of having to deal with her bullshit (because even if I block her or don't tag my post with the character's name, she still SOMEHOW always finds it) is keeping me from doing anything.

It fucking sucks because this user keeps insisting that if you don't LOVE her favorite pairing that means you automatically hate the character too...

(Note: I'm fully aware of how hypocritical I'm being for whining about this but this is titled the venting thread. So here goes:)

I'm tired of the canon shippers in my fandom complaining about how they have fewer fics, people tag the pairing in the fic and break them up, or people write meta against their pairing.

You have canon. EVERYONE is fucking forced to watch your stupid pairing no matter how much they despise it. And some people want to write canon-compliant fic. Which means DEALING WITH the canon pairing. And they tag it because there are a lot of people who don't want to read it. The tag is there to tell the readers of the CONTENT of the fic. And if you have half a brain, it should be obvious that the canon pairing isn't going to be endgame if there's a rival ship listed.

If you don't want to read meta against your pairing or find fan fiction that breaks up your pairing, there are plenty of other options.

For one, you can restrict your involvement in fandom to JUST FRIENDS who also ship it. You can keep your pairing's fan fiction on a shipping comm on live journal or such. You can fucking use the google site search feature to look for your pairing and EXCLUDE rival pairings.

Christ, you're the most privileged of all the shippers. Why the fuck are you always complaining? If you hate the fandom then GTFO.

It's like being at a restaurant that has a great meal and only has key lime pie for dessert. You fucking love key lime pie and are happy, but most people don't particularly like it. They'll eat it because they have to, but they'll try to make and enjoy their own desserts instead. Who cares if they're trash talking your favorite dessert?

More of a pet peeve, but why do people always do this?

Me: I don't really like depressing stories about disease and dying.

Them: Ooh, you know what you should read? The Fault in Our Stars.

Me: ...

Them: Or My Sister's Keeper!

Why do people do this?

Or when they think because you like X, you'll like Y, even if they have nothing to do with each other. When I was a teen, always wondered why I didn't like LOTR if I liked Harry Potter. Because they're... two completely different stories?

I used to help run an FY blog for this girl who was on the outskirts of my social circle. She was the whiniest, most immature, most unprofessional fleck of shit I've had the misfortunate to run across; she couldn't run a blog if she had other people running it for her - oh wait, she basically did, but somehow managed to fuck even that out. In the end she kicked both me and my friend because we were supposedly impossible to deal with - by which I mean, we didn't agree with her on a proposed policy change and were discussing it with her.

There have been literally four shitfests since mid-July, getting to the point where it was bordering on harassment, and we had to talk to her literally a month after the first incident because she WOULD NOT LET IT GO.

Today I see her on one of the other sites we both frequent asking for help running the blog because she keeps having trouble with people :( And apparently she's really been dragged through the wringer finding people to help out :(

Obviously I don't expect her to mention what a shitlord she was, but the whole thing seriously gets my goat.

The good news is, she mentioned that she might have to shut the blog down if no one agrees to help her. Not sure if it's a threat to try and gain sympathy, or if she's serious, but considering the blog has gotten progressively crappier since she kicked/alienated herself from the only people that actually did any work, there's hope that it's the former.

The current crop of writers active in my fandom for my OTP are so bad, I have literally been brought to tears on two occasions. The only one who can even write decently writes absolute garbage.

I wish I could quit the fandom. There's something about the OTP that I just can't get over though.

People who bash Anita Sarkeesian for so called "Legitimate" reasons are a fucking cancer upon feminism.

MAYBE she says some things you disagree with

MAYBE she has received more money than she was expecting and MAYBE she didn't handle this very well.

BUT you all don't seem to realise this does not matter. The responses she is getting, the responses YOU are feeding into with you're "valid" criticism, are from disgusting animals. Their existence justifies anything she says in her fight against these animals.

TLDR too many women and non-4chaners are piling on the "Fuck Sarkeesian" bandwagon and it's disgusting.

I really wanted an iced tea today, and Starbucks has stopped carrying the kind I like despite its still being on the menu. I am disproportionately cranky about this and it's turning into one of those stupid "icing on the cake" things for what has thus far been a terrible month.

I think I've hit a wall in a fic I'm writing for my friend. I want to finish it so badly, but I'm bad at resolutions. I am certain I know how I want the fic to end for my three leads, but I just don't know how to get there, especially since one of the characters I don't really know what to do with her now. I am certain I am 2/3 done with this fic, and I want to finish it so badly because I REALLY want my friend to read this fic, but I don't know how to end it. GGGGAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I have to get the oil changed for my car and I know I need to get my tires checked out before snow season starts...which in this area of the US can be any fucking day now. It's such a pain to get this shit done!! I hope I have enough money for this. T_T

But on the plus side, my boss is leaving for another shift. FUUUUUUUCCCKKKKKK YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

I recently moved into my first apartment with two roommates. Both my roommates go home on the weekends to stay with their parents. I don't, because a. they are far away b. I can't drive c. I'm actually trying to feel at home here.

Recently, one weekend, a couple of my friends came to visit me (from 200 miles away) and they stayed in my apartment, in my room. They visited because I have been depressed recently and wanted to cheer me up. I cleared it with my roommates ahead of time, and they both weren't bothered (initially) cause they go home. My friends showed up, and stayed a few days. One of my roommates came home early so she met my friends, but we generally left her alone.

Of course though, that was my roommates who keeps treating me poorly, making fun of me and whatnot. Today, she made some bitchy comments about my friends, saying that having them there was "a nightmare." I'm very upset, because my friends went out of their way to be nice to her whenever they did interact. We weren't drinking or partying or being particularly loud. We watched a movie, got some pizza, went shopping. I have to actually live here 24/7, I want to feel at home here. Why is my friends visiting me ONCE so unreasonable?

Also, talking shit about me is one thing, but talking shit about my friends? That pisses me the fuck off.

I am in my first somewhat serious relationship ever. The last few weeks we've seen each other almost every day. Because of life and thinking that I really am too old for this crush behavior I've declined joining my partner this weekend - I've been grumpy and bored for the last three days now. This is pathetic.

One of the people I follow has been posting some Discworld meta on her tumblr blog, and recently she posted something about Vimes being Demi/Demi.

Yeah, apparently she thinks that Vimes is demisexual/demiromantic, and that's the only thing that makes sense.

She's normally okay, but this just had me literally rolling me eyes.
