What is your ideal weekend?

What would be your perfect weekend? And maybe tell me what you are doing this weekend.

My perfect weekend would just be staying at home alone. There would be no birthday parties, family dinners, or grocery shopping. And I'd be able to sleep in as late as I want!

Sadly, that is just a dream. This weekend I will be shopping and cleaning the house. And my sister wants to go to the local Mexican restaurant. It is a game night tomorrow so it will be packed. And I'll probably be woken up by my cats or a family member 5 minutes before my alarm goes off.

What about you all?

I've kept in touch with one of my high school friends for years, but we've been drifting a little slowly over the past few. It's gotten to the point where I have to admit to myself that I don't enjoy her company anymore. When we make plans, I have to be in the mood, and it has to be something where we won't have to make too much conversation. I did a mental test where I asked myself if another friend wanted to do something last minute, would I still do it - the answer was yes. With her, not so much. It's not that she's a bad person, she's a good person, but we have nothing to talk about anymore, and have very little in common.

But because we have been friends for so long, I'm still worried about losing touch with her. i don't want her to just slip by the wayside. And the thing is that I do miss seeing her. But I'm not even sure whether I really miss her, or if I miss the friendship, and if I just feel guilty essentially friend dumping someone.

Not sure how to finish this post, even. Just... has anyone else had this problem?

Say you're writing a fantasy/sci-fi story featuring beings different than humans, ie. elves, aliens, vampires, robots, sentient animals, etc. You decide one of the conflicts in your story will be antagonism between humans and the beings you chose to write about. Why do the fictional races hate humans so much? What's the reason behind their fighting?

All the stuff I've seen about In the Flesh looks pretty interesting to me so I'm thinking about giving it a try but I'm a bit worried about the creepininess-level because I'm a bit of a whimp about suspense (it was the reason why I stopped watching Hannibal; I'm cool about murder and cannibalism, but I couldn't handle the level of suspense).
Is there a lot of that on In The Flesh or is it more about the plot?

I know how these work-out games go. I saw it happen with the Wii. You play the thing five times and then you stop because well, whadaya know, you start associating it with working out. Because as it turns out, the problem isn't that working out isn't fun, it's that it's working out.

My sister, who is also my best friend, was diagnosed last week with a giant tumor on her ovary that preliminary tests aren't calling cancerous. We already got a little bit lucky in that what was originally a first meeting with her surgeon for Dec. 9 has been able to move to next week, but it's still scary and stressful, so I'd happily take any support anyone can offer.

My friend is getting kicked out...

My friend is getting kicked out of her apartment for covering up a smoke detector. So she doesn't know where she's going to live for the rest of the semester. So of course she's freaking out.

And I want to be comforting.

But I also want to scold her. Smoking that much has already messed with her voice (she's studying music) and she knows it.

But I'm afraid I'm being unfair. Maybe the mix of drugs she's taking works for her even if it's not normal.

Or maybe she really needs to stop.

I'm sick of putting up with my dad's verbal abuse. Unrelated to that, I asked for a raise two weeks ago, when the boss was spouting BS about how "valuable" my position is. More valuable than minimum wage?

If I get it, I'll look for an apartment. I'll probably get attacked for being a single woman, but at least not by a relative!!!

If I don't, I'll quit and move to the other side of the state and hole up with my boyfriend and his dudebro roommate. His parents don't want us living together so I sure hope they don't find out!!!!

I finally got my degree this week. And now I'm sitting in front of this job application I need to get out in the next couple of days and am kind of despairing. Something my best friend said earlier sounded like she doesn't really think I'm capable of doing this job. My advisor and professor haven't replied to my question if they'd be willing to give me a reference (there's time still, but I'm freaking out a bit because I'll be so fucked if they don't).
I'm already full of self-doubts and none of this is helping with my motivation. :(
