Worst Day In a While

Did anyone else besides me have a really bad day?

1. Took me 2 hours to get into work and almost 3 to get home.

2. Fell twice and wrenched my back.

3. My stupid school charged my account for next quarter's tuition even though the money in there is still this quarter's and I was trying to get it. Which means I can't get money until next quarter's money comes through in a couple of weeks.

4. I was an idiot and thought the refund was coming today. I paid off my credit card two days ago and forgot about an automatic charge that was going to come through today. Which means my rent check that I payed today is going to bounce and I may get kicked out of my apartment.

Enh, mine has been a little rough mental health wise, but on the whole, things are going okay. I'm mostly just hiding socially until my brain is in better condition.

I also had the fastest, easiest call I've ever made to Social Security! It normally involves at least one dropped call and half an hour on hold, and this time, there was like, one minute on hold, a very helpful dude named Greg who got everything sorted in seconds, and he gave me useful information as to why the problem had happened. THANK YOU ANONYMOUS GREG!

Let's see. Not quite on your level, but I bought a delicious piece of cake and on the way home the box holding it snapped open and the cake fell on the carpet in my car. Now I have only a little bit of cake to eat and I have to wash the carpet.

I hope you can talk to your landlord about the mistake, or that you can reason something out like a delayed payment despite it :(

For me, I've been having bad days mood-wise for the past few months that even a coworker noticed that I'm rather "off" (to which I spaghetti'd an, "I'm fine! Really!"). I can actually put a finger to exactly why I'm about to fall into some new shit rig of depression, and see the anxieties ramping up to noticeable points of making me shit at being a person. So by just being able to spot the triggers though is what I hope is going to help me avoid sucking further by actually doing something about them.

I got my boss to give me this week off, thank fuck, but I can't say I've been too productive so far. I did scratch some of the things off that would help though, simple things like setting up an appointment with a doc I should have scheduled ages ago, and some spring cleaning so that my living space is not a complete representation of my mind.

I had three fiction rejections. And then my entire digestive tract staged an armed and violent rebellion. It seems to have settled (for now), but it was wholly unpleasant for over an hour.

Started watching Breaking Bad after much needling.

Still not exactly enjoying it. I basically hate all of the characters, except for one. I'm going to stick it out though, because I'm already on season 3.

the pill question

so i'm starting the pill for the first time in a few days, and i was told that after one week it'll take effect and i'll be protected. however, someone else told me that i should wait until my first pack of pills have been taken, which would obviously take a whole month. i've never heard this before, and the doctors i asked said just wait a week, but i got a pamphlet that also said i should wait out the whole month. now i'm a little nervous that i was told wrong. for those on the pill or otherwise in the know: i'll be okay after the first week, right? or should i wait until the pack is gone? thanks.

Clothing Rant

I've always been a happily weird person, but I'm starting to think that my clothes are putting people off on first glance. And not because their weird, but because they're put together or rich-looking.

Here's the thing: I don't wear pants. I find jeans super uncomfortable and find that any pants are unflattering on me because of the way they accentuate my shortness. So I always wear a skirt or dress, usually with long socks or tights if it's cold, a well-cut shirt (I gave up on tees when they started feeling like they were choking me), and usually a cardigan made up of cotton or wool. I also make sure my colors coordinate, and I never wear sweat-anything because my parents are from places where it snows and they have drummed it into me that sweatshirts are useless, you have to wear wool to be warm (I'm in the southwest US).

This is what I'll be wearing in a group of kids in community college and everyone in jeans and pajama tops are eyeing me no one will start a conversation, so I have to. Or I'll just be out and about when someone makes a snide comment about me being a "rich little white girl". Apparently my clothing makes me look wealthy, even though I tell anyone that wants to know that I simply have an easy figure to dress and everything I wear either comes from a thriftstore (I'm so spoiled by my mothers' expertise at thrifthunting them that I can't wear anything less than cashmere when it comes to will), Target (underwear and socks) and/or Payless (shoes). I can afford an iPad because I don't spend that money on clothes.

What do these people want from me? Should I start dressing like an uncomfortable schlub until I finally enter the working world and I'm supposed to be neat and put together? Wear jeans that show just how weird the shape of my butt is? Freeze my ass off in flip-flops in December? GARGH.

Earring question

I just got my earlobes pierced for the first time today - I'm an adult woman but just never had the interest, don't wear much jewelry and such, but I'm a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding and she'd like us to ear matching earrings, so I decided to go for it.

I went to the piercing place and they gave me an option of bars or rings for my first earrings, not studs like I expected. I thought the rings (the small ones with the little circle that locks them in) were cuter so I went with that.

Now at home, I'm getting a little worried, maybe irrationally. These rings are quite thick, at least to me they look much thicker than the average earring. Is that normal? And since it's a ring, does that put it in the "dangly" category, which will make my holes stretch out bigger than intended?

I just finished writing my first solo unit plan (teacher, here). I'm even happy with the result.

My LD SO finally emailed me back.

I get to set up my little space with multiple levels in my sponsor teacher's, for when I get tired of sitting.
