It's not yet 8 in the morning so not much yet, but I intend to clean the whole house today since I have the day off. I was sick yesterday and the house was a mess in an hour flat because nobody else in the house knows how to clean, I guess -_-

What is media you have consumed that you just didn't get without outside help (even after repeated viewings)?

For me it is the movie Under the Skin. After reading about the book, what is happening is obvious. I guess they were aiming for some kind of indie, art film atmosphere. But all I got from it was confusion and an awesome soundtrack.

Is it inevitable that your enjoyment of new media lessens as you age?

John Woo said something on a cracked podcast about how he can't really get as excited about new movies as he did as a child because now nothing is as surprising or exciting as it was to see it as a child without the context of previous movies and now it has me worried that it's not just that there aren't any new, exciting movies being made but that it is ME who can't enjoy the current movies in theatre as new or exciting. ._;

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around recently. I feel like I owe you all an explanation: last term was really busy for me, school-wise, and I kept saying to myself that I'd pop in on weekends, at least, but then the weekend would come, and I'd be swamped, and the longer I didn't post, the more embarrassed I got about the idea of posting.

This has carried over into my current term, but I'm trying to shake it. I won't be able to post on Tuesdays/Thursday, unless the F!S post goes down way early, and on M/W/F it depends on if I have work, or if I had time to set up a post prior to F!S going up, but I'm going to try. I don't know about weekends, still, since it also depends on my work schedule, but I might try making mini-posts, at least.

As a starting-over point, I've deleted the last "make a suggestion" post, and I've made a new one, if anyone has any suggestions. Because I took such a long break, and I posted so many times before, I admittedly don't know what pictures I have/haven't posted in the past, so there's a chance I'll be posting things I have before, but maybe they'll be new to some people?

I am really sorry for vanishing on all of you, for people who don't know me, I theoretically post a series of cute animal pictures, and a series of non-traditionally "cute" pictures once a day, so otters and a spider type, or some sort of insect. The threads will be posted after the comments collapse, plus they'll have a subject line, so you can ignore things you may not wish to see.

I hope you've all been doing well, and that the rest of your February is a good one, and I look forward to- hopefully- being around more often. ♥

My birthday is tomorrow and I am snowed in...

Worse, it's Mardi Gras. Parties were supposed to be everywhere.

But this isn't the first snowed in birthday that I've had. Nor the second or third. It's a running tradition at this point. When I was kid we would put off my birthday for a week or two to make sure snow wasn't going to happen. (Because, again, most times it did.) That's how bad it got.

So, I ask you, do you have any running traditions that happen on your birthday or that you do?

On a brighter side, I've signed up for enough free birthday stuff clubs that I've been able to get a free box of Godiva chocolates, free sandwiches from Jersey Mike, Which Wich, Firehouse Subs, (almost free from) Jason's Deli, free make up from Ulta and Sephora, ice cream from Ben and Jerry's and more discounts than you can shake a stick at.

Do you go for any freebies on your birthday? If so what?

First Lines Shuffle Thread

Been a while since we've done this & I thought it might be fun.

Usual thing - open up your music player, put it on shuffle, put the first lines of the first 10 (or 5, or 15, or whatever) songs that come up and people see if they can guess them. No skipping, unless it's instrumental, or the title of the song is in the first line, or whatever reason, I'm not some kind of music shuffling dictator.
