Sometimes this way of thinking gets rather inconsistent.

Someone I know (older guy) is talking about some girl he used to know, and saying people how would call her "overweight" now but at the time, (and in her culture - maybe more important) nothing was considered wrong with her.

But when he wants to mock some woman for being fat, he spends more time going on about how he's "not allowed to say this anymore" and blah, blah, people are censoring him because they say things objecting to fat-shaming.

Soooo do people today put down fat people, or do they "not allow" anyone to mention weight?

Something I've been noticing on tumblr and in various speeches given by social justice figure (ex. Laverne Cox) have said that micro-aggressions and/or hateful speech is a form of violence. That saying something hateful, offensive, or rude, intentionally or not, is on the same level as doing something hateful, offensive, or rude.

Do you think words are as harmful as actions? Are words "violent"?

I'm not asking because "1st Amendment means I can say anything I want!" I think using slurs or swears at people is shitty, but I'm not sure if I consider words to equal violence. And I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this.

Fanart or Fanfic trends that bug you for no good reason

So, I have family (immigrants) and friends in the US and I hope the Democrats will win in November because I want the best for them, but... a tiny, shrill, petty part of my brain secretly wants Trump to win, simply because I want to see all his supporters howl and moan when he turns out to be horrible. The thing is, I don't think he'd actually bring forth the apocalypse, but I do think he will be ineffective, incompetent and embarrassing, and part of me wants to see the looks on those people's faces when their egomaniacal dream inevitably implodes.

Of course, I don't want him to ACTUALLY win because I don't want anybody to have a shitty president, least of all people I care about, but again, my lizard brain has such trainwreck syndrome with the whole thing.
