Double Standards you have

Are there any double standards that you have (either ones you're fine with or ones that are subconscious and you wish you could change).

I recently realized that while I'm totally okay with polyamorous couples if they are all guys, all girls, an even mix (or about), or a girl and multiple guys, I'm generally uncomfortable if it is one guy with a bunch of wives/girlfriends.

Just, it is hard for me to separate the historical context, and while I believe it is possible in theory to have a non-sexist version of a man with multiple female partners, I generally automatically assume that isn't the case unless proven otherwise.

This definitely extends to fics too. I generally avoid M/F/F threesome fics, and I especially avoid harem fics. But on the other hand M/F/M, M/M/M, and F/F/F threesomes are some of my favorite things in fics. And if harem fics where the woman had the harem existed, I'd be totally down to read that.

I don't mind if dogs die in fiction but I do mind if cats do.

I think it's because dogs' deaths are usually treated as noble or sad, but cat deaths are often treated as jokes, and it pisses me off.

Pretty much any situation where I prefer one ship over another, or one character over another, and the one I like is from a priveleged/majority group and the one I dislike is from an oppressed/minority group, I feel like a horrible person. I don't think this is actually considered a double standard at all (except maybe to racist/sexist/homophobic people), but it was the closest thing I could think of.

The music I listen to is cool and sophisticated and deep. The music you listen to is shallow garbage noises.

(I try to be nice about other people's music choices, but holy fuck to I cringe internally)

I try not to have any, but I do have a knee jerk reaction to real life Older Guy/Younger Woman pairings. I always assume the guy is a skeeze who just wants a young piece of ass, while and Older Woman/Younger Guy don't trigger that response in me.

Motivation - what do you use?

For me I just have to make a time table and willpower my way to sticking to it. If I wait for the "mood" to strike me or whatever I'll never get anything done. But I've seen some people say they print out motivational posters to hang up around their house as a reminder, or set alarms, or certain music?

Right now, studying for the bar. And if I don't feel like studying, what I've taken to doing is running a hot bubble bath and then taking flash cards in with me and studying in the tub.

While driving to the store this afternoon, there were a couple of skunks that had gotten run over and the smell was pretty strong for a few blocks. Skunk smell has never really bothered me, in fact I kinda like it up to a point (I wouldn't want to have to smell it 24-7 or anything), and think it smells similar to things I like, like high-grade cannabis and New Zealand sauvignon blanc wine, but the poor woman in the car next to mine was obviously grossed out by it and having a hard time.

What about you, FS? Do you like skunk smell or no?
