Did you ever adamantly not want kids, then change your mind? Or have you always never wanted kids and still don't?

When I was younger I thought ehhh, maybe it'd be nice to have a kid someday. It wasn't because I desperately wanted one or anything, it just seemed like the thing people do when they reach adulthood, along with getting married and getting a job. By the time I graduated college, I thought... nah actually I'm good. I'm 40 now. No kids, no plans to have any, and no regrets about not having kids.

Now that I think about it, I don't often see many female characters like that. Either characters my age or older have kids, or they have regrets because they didn't/couldn't.

Don't have them, don't want them, never wanted them. Have been screeched at when asked, "Well what if you accidentally got pregnant!" I responded with, "I would have an abortion."

I wouldn't adopt out because personally I do not feel I could be pregnant and then give it away, and then I'd just resent the child for being in my life, no child deserves that.

But I thank them for reminding me why I don't have sex at all because the thought of 'accidentally' getting pregnant fucking terrifies me.

I absolutely want kids. I didn't want kids when I was younger, because I didn't want to settle down and couldn't even imagine life after 30. Now I'm getting close to that age and sadly, with biology and whatnot, am starting to realize if I want them, I probably need to start thinking about how I'll make that happen. I'm a lesbian, so there's that, and I've found a lot of lesbians don't want kids, so at this point I probably wouldn't pursue a serious relationship with someone who didn't. And it can't happen accidentally.

I honestly might just pop into a sperm bank in a couple of years if there's no traction on finding a serious partner. You can just like... do that, right? I'm less interested in being married than I am having a kid.

Hey FS, say, I want to mutilate a character in a fic, I'm not sure how, googling wasn't very helpful and I dare not yet go ask little_details

Setting: equivalent to nowadays big city in the US.
Character is a male in his early twenties, physically fit but mentally as unstable as needed to be.
I want him to injure his dominant hand in a way that causes loss of sensation and motricity--can be partial, ie not on the whole hand, but permanent--no recovery.

I don't think nerve damage through cutting would do it, because he's more likely to hold the blade with the dominant hand and do it on the opposite side hand?

I've thought about burning: suppose he puts his hand atop a lit big church candle, how fast would it snuff out the flame? how bad would the burn on his palm be?

Other possibility, punching a mirror and have the glass shards cut everything. Is it even possible?

What do you think?
Any other idea?

How much tech is TOO much tech?

I work in a chain office supply/technology shop for the time being, and for the life of my, I can't wrap my head around half the crap it sells. Especially fitbits and those Google Home things. It just seems creepy to have a computer know your every move - even while you're asleep, in the case of fitness trackers.

The only time I ever even entertain the idea of wanting bio kids is when I'm feeling verklempt about my parents bloodline ending. But that's a dumb reason and I still have no desire to be pregnant and I don't even really like kids. I'm the monster who's just as likely to be annoyed by a baby's laugh as I am to be enamored by it. So don't get me started on screeching a d screaming.

This weird, huge and incredibly painful lump just turned up on the side of my hip. I'm thinking abscess because it's so red and hot to the touch, and even my clothing lightly brushing it makes me want to cry. I've been doing the whole routine of hot/moist compresses to try and clear it, but it's just getting bigger. >:[

I'm working Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday so won't have time to get to a GP til Thursday. Sleep is a nightmare because even lying on my back/opposite side there's still just enough pressure on it to keep me awake. Advice, FS? I've been Googling but everywhere is just saying hot compresses, and no dice there. Grumble.

1. The only thing I knew about this movie before watching it was the blurb I read on google.

2. I felt the same before and after the movie. I am vehemently against the death penalty. I don't think the state should be allowed to take the life of its citizens. I think there is too much risk that (more) innocent people will be wrongfully killed. And if none of that changes someone's mind, the death penalty is more expensive than a life sentence.

3. I've never watched a Werner Herzog film before but I really liked his interview style! The people he talked to always seemed relaxed and comfortable. He also doesn't talk down to them like some interviewers I've seen.

4. Jared Talbert was probably the one I remember the most. The first reason was because he reminded me of people back home. The second reason is how Herzog treated him with such respect. Even when he brought up Jared learning to read, it wasn't a negative. He made sure that Jared knew what an accomplishment it was. Fred Allen also really stuck in my brain. I found it fascinating that he did all these executions and then one day (probably due to the executed being female) he just couldn't do it anymore. Not only that, but he is against the death penalty now.

5. Yes. Personally, I find the subject fascinating. I thought the documentary approached the topic as unbiased as they could. They made no judgements about whether the death penalty is good or bad, they just let the subjects talk and the audience decide for themselves.
