Had a great day but a bad homophobic comment from a friend and the realization that Frozen the Musical comes to London only in Autumn 2020 kinda ruined my mood.
(Didnt expect homophobia from my friend, and i wanted to do a spring holiday in london & then travel around the uk ): )

Surprise homophobia is never fun. I was taken aback by a friend with a gay sibling, who she loves and is very close to saying that her attitude is like the Bible "love the sinner, hate the sin". I didn't even know what to say to that, but in hindsight I think...

* What a shitty, condescending thing to believe
* The Bible says to stone homosexuals, so that's the kind of shitty advice nobody should listen to
* WTF kind of person still has such a closed mind about someone they grew up with and love dearly

We're still friends, but not as close as we were because I'll never forget she said those things.

The other day one of my friends whom I previously thought as smart went on to say that he thinks homosexuality is something "learned" and that people "turn gay" after having gay sex. :[

Well, it's only 7:20 here, so I'll say how yesterday went.
Yesterday I got up bright and early to pick my parents up from the airport, only to realise (before I left the house, fortunately) that my mum have given me their departure time, not their arrival time. -_-'
After some delays and some confusion, I did manage to collect them and bring them home, they got to unpacking, and then my dad got a phone call from his sister that their dad, my grandpa, had died in the night.
So dad went off to do important "dealing the the immediate aftermath of a death" things, I made dinner... and mum realised I had a ticket to the ballet that very evening! I skipped, though: I was already pretty worn out, the ballet would not have made for a pleasant evening at that point.
The evening pretty much proceeded as expected from there, mercifully - dad came home, we had dinner, talked about their trip, etc etc.

Gods but I still feel tired just thinking about it all :(

I decided to finally give that whole "casual sex" thing a try, and hit it off with a guy on tinder. We'd agreed to "meet", but when he told me the place, the reality of the situation sunk in and I freaked out.

I spent half an hour googling "how to cancel a tinder date nicely", and in short, I'm still a thirtysomething virgin.

Went to a public showing of the Sweden-Germany game and got to experience the euphoria of us winning first-hand. (I did miss our second goal because I was taking a bath room break, but fuck it, I'm going to be happy about what I did see.)

We will probably have our asses handed to us by NL in the semi, but hey, bronze medal chance!

I just came back from a friend's birthday party, there was chocolate cake and juice and a local counterpart to Cards Against Humanity and we had lots of fun, but now that I'm home, my neighbours are making too much noise again and it's WAY too hot in my room.

I had to go into work extra hours to catch up on paperwork but I accomplished everything I had planned to do there so at least there's that.

Also watching TV - My Mad Fat Diary and The Handmaid's Tale.

i'm sorry you had to deal w homophobia :(

kinda related, today the lgbt non profit i am part of had our 6th annual picnic and it went really well! i got a lil toasty but i'm in northern az and a number of people drove up from phoenix and were like oh shit this weather is so nice lmao, so i appreciated the perspective. the political climate has some folks worried, and i think that's why we ended up with a hundred less guests than last year, but at least it was a drama free time! my friend has a daughter who she just adopted after she was kicked out of her home for coming out as trans, and today was one of the few times she felt safe leaving the house dressed how she wants and that was really sweet to hear!

Drank coffee, got dressed, bought lettuce and a churro at the farmers market, picked up a prescription, made French toast with strawberries, did some cleaning, made another attack in my battle against the ants getting into my kitchen by caulking around a window, started some laundry, signed up for a free trial of Amazon Prime and watched half of Good Omens, did more laundry, had a sort of caprese salad with spinach, bow tie pasta, and balsamic vinaigrette for dinner, pulled weeds out of the patio, mowed the lawn, cleaned mud off my work boots that had been sitting like that for a week, took a shower, watched the rest of Good Omens, made myself a cocktail (limoncello and tonic with mint from the garden) and now I'm going to bed.

Sorry about your friend's homophobia and the scheduling, Anon.

Fictional history books

I'm looking for fictional history books. Books that explore the history of fleshed-out fictional worlds. Things like the Silmarillion or like Fire and Blood by GRRM (which I'm currently reading and is probably my favorite book by him).

I'd also be interested in links for fantasy or scifi books that are heavy on the history set-up for the worlds even if they aren't full-on history books.

I just really like the idea of history books for fictional worlds, and I'm interested to see if there are any more out there.

I am suddenly seeing A LOT of people on Tumblr converting to Judaism. Is this a new trend or something, like everyone suddenly being transgender or pagan?

It's making me skeptical that some people are doing it to be special or get more oppression points. Especially since a lot of them are trans-gay, self-diagnosed mentally ill types.
