Ukefication and Exclusive Bottoming in porny fanfic?

Today, over on Avengerkink, an anon, in response to the fact that 80% of Tony-related prompts and fills on the meme involve him bottoming, requested a super-top!Tony fic.

A rude anon added that she was sick of Tony being portrayed as a pathetic, grovelling, slutty uke, which set off a shitstorm of people taking umbrage at the comment and then disagreeing with each other over the concept of the ukefication trope (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Wimpification) where the bottom partner in fanfic is portrayed with OOC misogynistic stereotypes, and exlucsive-bottoming and why certain characters seem to have big cohorts of fans who always write them bottoming in their fandom's fic.

So what are your thoughts, guys? There are some characters who I just like seeing on the bottom more than others, for reasons relating to their personality or appearance (I like bottom!Tony because I like seeing swaggering snarky jackasses get their pride stripped away until they're reduced to begging and moaning, and I like picturing tiny manic darkhaired Robert Downey Jr getting pounded raw by another guy), but ukefication is really OOC and misogynistic and rage-inducing when personality traits are flattened by the heteronormative steamroller, and in this fandom it often comes with a very condescending attitude towards Tony. So I was just wondering if you guys had pent-up rants about this topic or what other fandoms you have seen it in.

So in honour of finally getting a decent connection back, I'm looking into getting a series or two to watch on the go.

I guess Madoka is the big thing recently right? Probably going to pick that up, though I haven't watched any magical girl shows which it's supposedly a critique of which might hamper fully getting it. Then again, Evangelion was one of the first animes I watched and even without the background for everything it was doing I really enjoyed it. What else worth watching has hit the market recently?

I've got a fairly broad range genre wise, so unless it's really pandering I'm willing to give it a fair try if it's good.

The Vanishing on 7th Street -- Seen it?

I used a free Redbox code to pick up The Vanishing on 7th Street and meant to watch it after I gave blood today, but for some reason my Xbox was acting flooey and then I ended up sleeping or three hours anyway. If I rush downstairs and watch it right now, I can probably finish before its supposed to be back without incurring a charge.

I'm just not entirely sure I care that much. It's not something I've been dying to see, it was just something I didn't mind getting for free because I kind of like Hayden Christensen when he's not in Star Wars and generally enjoy John Leguizamo.

So, have you seen it? Is it good, and something I should go watch or should I hang out here and forget about it until next month? It should be noted that this is one of my days off, and my days off are the only times I'm here early in the F!S schedule.

Movies with cross-dressing

So, I don't know why, but I love movies with cross-dressing.

The Classics
Classics of course are Tootsie (1982) and Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). And if you listen to Dustin Hoffman talk about Tootsie, it's clearly a movie that affected him tremendously, which I think is pretty special.

Favorite
But I think my absolute favorite is Just One of the Guys (1985). I think it was the first movie I'd seen where a girl masqueraded as a guy and I generally think it handled itself really well. But I can't lie -- at the dance, when Rick thinks Terry is actually gay...I kind of wish that were the movie I was watching -- well, Terry as a gay transman would have been awesome, too, but such was not the case.

I also really like She's The Man (2006), which is largely the same movie with a Twelfth Night twist in the 21st century.

Guilty Pleasures
My guiltiest of guilty pleasures would have to be Sorority Boys (2002), which I adore even though it has a few issues and everybody always talks shit on it.

But I also really like Ladybugs (1992), which has very few redeeming qualities aside from Jonathan Brandis, and requires watching Rodney Dangerfield, who don't get no respect for a reason.

And Just One of the Girls (1993), I've only seen once and barely remember it, but it had Corey Haim during his cute period so...it belongs on any list for which it is remotely qualified.

Does anyone else have any favorites to recommend?

Christmas Parties

So I'm kind of stuck organizing the office Christmas Party, and I have no idea what to do. They only just gave me a budget today, and now I only have a month, and it's going to be a miracle if I can book something, but w/e.

My ACTUAL question: Has anyone ever been to a REALLY GOOD office Christmas Party? Where you did something fun? We usually have a cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner, but this year people say they want something more interesting.

I went out a bought a bra - and for the first time in about two years I'm convinced it actually fits properly. And it makes my boobs look awesome! (Like, it's only a 12A, but still, I actually look like I have boobs for a change, not entirely flat or entirely padding). I'm just super excited about it, and I can't exactly go into the dining room and yell it out there. So here will have to do :D

Anybody ever have a spike in appetite for no apparent reason? For the past couple of days I feel like I have to eat more to feel satisfied.

The only things I can think of that are doing this is a.) coming off of being sick, b.) my period is next week, and c.) it's cold. I have no idea if those are actually things that can contribute to a spike in anything, but that's what I'm guessing.

Any help/explanations? Normally I have no problem mentally slapping my wrists and telling myself to not take a 3rd cookie, but recently I'm just like, "Nom, eat all the things."

relationship stuff, TMI for whining

Hey so I thought I'd post this on F!S since it's kind of "anon".

Yesterday I realized that the reason I'm 20 and haven't been in any kind of serious relationship yet is because I'm afraid.Part of this has to do with my perfectionism.

I'm afraid of the messiness of being in a relationship with someone else. I'm afraid of doing something wrong and making a mistake. I'm afraid of trusting someone else; that once they really get to know me they'll run screaming in the other direction. I'm afraid they'll try to control me or ask for things I can't give them.

For those of you more wise in the ways of the world - how do I get over this?

Is there a switch I can just press to make me less whiny and neurotic?
How the hell do you trust people?

random costume question

So I'm going as Minnie Mouse for Halloween. I bought a SUPER CUTE dress online (just came today and it fits, phew! The accessories (Ears, gloves, shoes) I bought at Disneyland.

The only thing is... the "shoes" are actually slippers. (These: http://www.themeparkshopper.com/catalog/disney050808090.jpg) The shoes are stuffed and the bottoms aren't very sturdy. And I'm planning to go out on the town on Halloween- not sure exactly what I'l be doing, but probably walking around a fair bit and going to bars/clubs.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to mod the slippers so they'll stand up to being worn out? I thought about just super-gluing some cardboard on the bottom, but I figured I'd ask you guys if you had any better ideas.

If you only plan on wearing them once, they'll probably hold up, unless you're planning on going dancing at a crowded place or literally racing through the street. Otherwise...yeah, I got nothing.
