I haven't been sleeping well since I read this secret. I *think* I know who this person is, and while I was never their friend (I have social anxiety), I admired them from a distance. I wish I had been brave enough to try to make friends with them, so I could have been there for them. I'm glad that they have the friends they do have, though.

If it isn't them, I'm going to message the person whom I'm thinking of right away and introduce myself. I refuse to let my social anxiety keep me from making a potential friend, even if they are not long for this world.

I stopped watching at around episode 42 and skipped ahead to the last two...so Riza x Roy are a mystery to me. It was just way too long and I think I got fed up when we had several infodumps around the 20 episode mark.

This is one reason I'm glad that I didn't find out until after.

It is a good movie. Maybe you can just separate it in your mind? If that's possible for you. That way you can condemn the way she was treated but also enjoy the movie just for itself. I know for some people it's hard to do.

It's the only logical explanation I can think of that covers all the facts.

This is fantastic secretmaking from a neutral perspective and I'm super enjoying it.

On the other hand, even if it would be a military dictatorship founded on awesome bald dudes being kickass, it'd still be a military dictatorship, and that's not really what the Federation / Star Trek is all about, or what those characters are all about. They're just too honorable and badass and bald to do what you want them to. It's a mark of how awesome they are.

Secret 8 - The Lord of the Rings, Sméagol and Déagol

Based on the opening of Return of the King I developed an elaborate headcanon backstory for these two where Déagol is a kind-hearted farmer who wants to know about the world and longs to see the ocean and Sméagol is an excentric, solitary bachelor from a wealthy family who's written books about the flora and fauna of the Vales (parallelling Sam and Frodo.)

Tolkien never said they were cousins. That's just fanon.

They bond over their shared intellectual curiosity and Sméagol teaches Déagol how to read and about Eärendil and Elves and they become dear friends. Also, they were both good hobbits until the Ring corrupted them because it's more tragic that way.

I used to like Deadman Wonderland a lot, at least until the ending.

After that I honestly have a hard time thinking of it as better as... most other series I have seen so far.

...you say that as if writing kid's fiction is a bad thing, or something no one would do if they had the opportunity to do anything else. Have you read his previous physics books? He loved dabbling in fiction-y bits/thought experiments even then.
